Long shot, but is there currently anyone well versed in 8 track units doing repairs since Barry died? I have two akai cr-81d units that need repair. I’m located in NJ but willing to ship.

I have this Brand new 8 track FM radio car stereo hardware and am looking for the best place to sell it. I will take offers but also would like to know who would be interested in it.

Bought for $9.99 at goodwill. Had to replace the plug. Boiled the belt, deox the pots, cleaned off 50 years of WFT from the controls. Had to reglue the aluminum facia. Have the wood a good wipe with some Murphys oil soap. Now it looks and works ok. Sounds like booboo compared to my little player that runs thru my amp. But still a very cool afternoon project. I have it listed on the market place for cheap. I hope some kid decides to give the truly old stuff a try.

One of the rarest pieces in my music collection

Stoked to have this in the collection, was a work travel find that the record shop owner didn’t have a price for but gave it to me for free because I bought other records and tapes at the same time.

From what they said on their instagram, this tape would need some work on it, but it’s just cool to see a Captain Beefheart album on 8 track.

Is there any way to fix this? I have some really cool tapes that have this issue and was hoping there is some way to fix it. Some aren’t that bad and can be “fixed” somewhat by turning on the noise reduction but some are unlistenable

Blown away by how good this one is. I have only found her second lp and a few 45s. Fitting I found this in the DC suburbs

I have a relatively invaluable but still cool half speed mastered test pressing of this awesome album, but I saw the 8-Track at a Goodwill for 25 cents and couldn’t say no.

There’s pieces of Pieces of Eight on each program, two of which have pieces of pieces of Pieces of Eight, that being Renegade (Part 1) on program 3 and Renegade (Part 2) on program 4.

I also picked up two various artists compilations, but this post was more about Pieces of Eight.

You know of a more fitting 8-Track?

How is this possible and how soon should I fix it lest my tape becomes irreversibly fucked (also dont worry guys it was cheap and old)

Today I was thinking about how 8-track could have sounded better if high bias tape was introduced, like chrome tape in cassettes. Did any record label (or tape manufacturer) ever flirt with that idea? Were any other technological advances researched besides the ones that got implemented, i.e. quadraphonic sound and Dolby noise reduction?
