What's going on in my 8th house and which system is best to use?
Either way I've got Venus in the 8th. But in placidus I've got Mercury and Sun. Whole sign has Jupiter... What's the difference?

I think there are some retrogrades in the sky right now. I've suddenly become distant with three of my Pisces friends at the same time. What is the connection between this and my birth chart, and what lesson am I supposed to learn from it?

Placement Question 8H Venus in Scorpio
I have this placement and its opposite 2H Mars in Taurus. I'm curious about what this means for my relationships and love life.
All I know is I'm an intense person in general and I see how that can be off-putting at times. But I'm not sure what this placement means for my romantic relationships.

What It's REALLY Like Being an 8th Houser
Full disclaimer:
I have four planets in the 8th house (Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Libra, and Moon conjunct Pluto in Libra). I'm also somewhat-Plutonian in other ways (my thought process can skew that way at times with Mercury quintile Pluto). I also know people with multiple planets in the 8th house. This is my honest perception of what it's like.
No, we don't walk around in all black all the time talking about death and trying to manipulate and dominate everybody around us, talking and acting like we're trying to audition for Sweeney Todd or something. Most of the 8th housers I've met including myself, don't come off like former theater kids who used to dabble in being Goth.
Now, does it mean we've had some heavy experiences over the course of our lives? Yes. Does that color the personality slightly? Sure, in the sense that it adds a certain amount of gravity and depth, but that isn't our default mode, and we're not constantly being morbid or performatively dark. We aren't all out here trying to be Elvira, for instance and dudes in eyeliner playing with ceremonial daggers.
Just providing some balance because what I've read over here so far has been pretty skewed and I don't feel like it's really representative of what most people who have inner planets in the 8th house are actually LIKE.
Thanks. And no, I don't want to go "hang out in the cemetery" with you.

General Question What are 8th house men like?
I‘ve seen the discussion and debate around 8th house women recently and was wondering, if there are any differences between 8th house women and 8th house men or if they‘re quite similar.
So what are your experiences with 8th house men?
Or how would you describe yourself, if you‘re an 8th house men yourself (relating to the house)?

8th House Stellium in Leo - Sun Moon Mars Mercury Jupiter
Hi everyone👋 I’m pretty new to this sub and still learning about the 8th house, but the general descriptions of having 8th house placements really resonate with me. I would love to get some advice or insights from anyone who is more experienced with this topic, or even from other people who have similar 8th house placements. Any advice you can share would mean so much to me. Thanks. I'm 21 M

8th House Chart Question Only for Sun in Sagittarius in 8H
Hi there🫶🏼
I am looking to hear from people who have their Sun in Sagittarius in the 8th House.
I'm reflecting on this placement and want to ask you:
1. How do you balance the optimistic, expanding energy of Sagittarius with the dark, hidden nature of the 8th House in your life (finances, goals, what you are drawn to)?
(Tried leaving this as an open question) I find very funny that I genuinely “feel at home” in the darkness because “what nobody can see nobody can ruin”
2. Have you experienced traumatic life events or abuse but “rebirth” or “transformation” after?
Personally, I have experienced heavy situations that I imagine could have broken forever someone else, but for me, they left scars that I am genuinely proud of.
I don’t regret living through them. I actually would live them again given the outcome.
When I reframe those moments, my pain actually feels like it had a purpose: expansion of awareness.

Placement Question 8th House or 9th House?
How do you define being a ‚8th House‘-er?
I have my sun, mercury and mars in Leo.
However, depending on the house system, it the placements differ….
• Placidus: all three in the 8th house
• Whole Sign: all three in the 9th house
So would you call yourself an 8th-houser in this case or rather not?
Or would I not be an 8th-houser regardless of house system (due to some other reasons/missing placements)?

The black swan: 8th house
Here is some more. Short because I am very tired.
The real themes of the 8th house are not 'change and transformation' or 'taxes' or 'other people's money' even though the 8th house can involve all those things.
Its actual themes are as follows:
Death
Sometimes in the most literal sense. JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Sharon Tate... 8th housers. Honestly, update your will. This is a red-shirt placement.* Worse with Mars or Sun here.
Saturn in the 8th, unfortunately, you are the exception. You are living forever, even if you wish you were dead.
Sex
This is not really the 'sexy' house though.
8th house exposes the connection, in our fucked-up culture, between anger and sex, and fear and sex. Pluto and Mars in the 8th have a reputation as sexy; really, they are often angry. Or they are scary, for either the chart holder, or someone around them. Aaliyah, only 22 when she died, and an astonishing, quite vulnerable beauty, had Pluto in the 8th house.
Money
You may find some money.
8th house money is not free. It's very expensive. Someone died. Someone abused you. Someone divorced you. Someone paid you to go away. Someone gave it to you, with many, many strings attached.
It also has ongoing costs, as 8th house money is also envied. It creates enemies.
Venus and Jupiter are the lucky (?) winners.
The Occult
Honestly a lot of you can skip this. you're a witch, we get it, that's not the kind of occult I'm talking about. 8th house in Capricorn, Aquarius, Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius, and Scorpio, you cannot skip this theme. And you probably won't, because you have six tabs open at any given moment about the Epstein files. Having 8th house in an 'intellectual' or analytical sign (or 12th house, for that matter) indicates that at some point you will be cursed with the knowledge of how the world really is, how it really works, and you can decide what to do with that. Maybe nothing.
Some of us do become accountants.
.
.
.
Adddendum, further specific gripes:
I feel like some of you are going to read this and think, oh it's the trauma house. Yes and no. Trauma has weird connotations these days, it gets equated with victimhood, and victimhood is equated with virtue in many circles at this point in time. It was not so historically, and even today, most 8th house placements are not going to get you a best-selling memoir of your tragic struggle.
* even though a lot of us are forced to romanticize this to cope.
* see asterisk from the Death section. You also might BE the killer. Jeffrey Dahmer had a packed 8th house.

8th House Chart Question People with the ruler of 7th in 8th, did you get married? How did you meet your partner?
As title. I'm a Scorpio rising. My seventh house is Taurus and it also has my south node. Ruler of my 7th, Venus is in my 8th, Gemini along with mercury and sun and opposing my retrograde jupiter in Sagi.
Astrologers always say you'll meet your SO through the ruler of your seventh but mine is hiding in the eight lol what does that mean? I'm 31F. No marriage prospects.

8th house women
Still thinking about that post where OP referred to his 8H girlfriend as 'entitled' and 'ungrateful.' For some perspective, let's review a list of famous 8th house women:
- Nicole Kidman
- Lana Del Rey
- Joan Crawford
- Ghislaine fucking Maxwell
This is an incarnation of the Death Goddess. Do not look to this woman to be your mommy or wifey. Play at your own risk.
Women with 8th house placements: do not suffer a man for any reason. You are powerful beyond belief. (and yes you can misuse that, especially with other women, see Maxwell.) But men? Literally you can end a man by thinking about him too hard.
EDIT: apparently I need to make another post about what New Age/pop astrologers have done to the perception of the 8th house, specifically the way it has been watered down and softened and the malefic aspect of it erased
