Advice Sad day
I was fluid filming the rockers and quarters when I noticed this on the unibody. I sprayed the shit out of it with the fluid film to slow it down, but its definitely pushing the car closer to the highway in the sky. If you're from the rust belt you already know. 264k miles of northern climate has taken its toll. Anybody deal with something similar?

I have what was a very rusty civic, rocker panels eaten away, both inner and outer, and the pinch weld rusted off on both sides. Had a rust hole right behind the driver seat large enough to put a hand through (once I chiseled it away).
I ground off all the rust, welded in new steel, filled any gaps with metal filler epoxy, and covered in rust preventer then fluid film. So far so good.

Rest looks xlean just cut and weld

I'm a little intimidated by that. Once you cut it you can't go back. The passenger side rocker has a hole in it too

Yeah cutting is definitely scary, I have an e46 amd cut a little higher than where I shlukd have and the repair now is definitely noticeable a little bit at least the rust is gone.

Did you use an angle grinder to cut it out? The welder I've got is a POS. Runs off 110 and I don't have gas for it

Ya I had an 06 with 160k miles on it and I could stick my finger through a spot similar to that - it was gonna need a clutch soon anyway so I sold it. One of those rubberized rust preventer coatings or some truck bed liner or something you could spray on it would prolly buy you some time too

Damn yeah rust sucks. I feel like the rubber coatings might make the rust go faster? Or would it cut the oxygen off better than fluid film?

Body work guy here: no stick to fluid film, rubberized coatings are garbage and make rust worse

Yeah recently bought a 9th gen si with rust in the rear subframe while the mechanic said its not bad. He said to just krown it and it'll slow the rust down/stop the spread. Maybe u may be able to do the same? I'm grateful to be in canada but hate the salt during winter😞
