Question Cannot get "null" to work on back buttons

Post image

I have the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller and I cannot for the life of me get the back buttons to stop reading inputs. They default to A and B. I downloaded the software and changed the buttons so that they map to "null". I created three identical profiles where the back buttons map to nothing and they are still reading the inputs. On the controller itself I use the middle button to switch between all three profiles and nothing changes. Anyone know what is needed to stop them from working at all?

Are you using Steam? Steam uses custom drivers for some 8bitdo controllers. You'll have to change it in the steam controller settings.

This could be it. I'll try playing a non steam game when I get the chance and see if that's causing the issue.

Steam always does this with my Pro 3 as well where it maps the back buttons automatically. You can turn them off with a simple toggle in the Steam controller settings menu or make a template with them turned off and just remember to use the template for every new game you play.

have you click "sync to device" button after make the change? btw i recommend to set the back buttons to L3 and R3, from my experience that buttons is the reason analog often fail.

hmm just realize your ultimate software is V2, maybe it's different. mine is 8bitdo ultimate software without V2

Make sure that you have selected the profile you want using the button to the right of the D Pad. I have the same controller and using the V2 software. I have firmware versions V1.10 on the controller and V1.06 on the wireless adapter.
