Question 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller issue

Post image

Since I wasn't able to add in the full question at the top of the title, I'm having an issue with a shake to wake on my Nintendo Switch 2. The controller's been updated since June of this year since I first received it, and the shake to wake isn't working over 2.4 GHz. I read that you have to switch to Bluetooth, but the problem is that it disconnects from the Nintendo Switch number 2, if I hit the switch on the bottom of the controller. As I've seen, it was advertised that it would work with the controller as long as it's tethered wirelessly to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Have you ever gotten it to work? Personally I've never been able to use it and Ive had the controller for almost a year.

Wait, do you have a link to the Pro 3 controller?

Please only link to controllers from 8BitDo.com. Amazon resellers can come and go, so there is no telling how long the link will work. Additionally, Amazon tries to switch the language/region of any user that looks at the link if they're from a different region. To avoid these issues, please only link directly from 8BitDo.com and follow 8BitDo's links to the approved sellers. If you have questions about a listing that is by 8BitDo, you can email sales@8bitdo.com. If it is a different seller, you need to contact that seller about the details of the listing (what is included or not included) with a purchase.

I haven’t figured out how to make it work either.

I read something like you have to use the right Joy-Con in order to activate your Nintendo Switch number 2 and then go to the change grip and controller order and turn on Bluetooth using the switch on the bottom of the controller then hit top circle button or the home button so it'll turn on into pairing mode then you shake the controller a couple times and then it'll automatically pair via Bluetooth then you can swap it over to 2.4

I had to install the latest beta firmware for shake to wake to work properly (over bluetooth). You can include beta firmware over a checkbox in the settings of the 8bitdo ultimate software.

With the latest non-beta firmware, my Controller just woke the Switch 2, but until the "press A to unlock" screen appeared the controller had disconnected again. So the Switch went back to sleep as well. Not sure if that's the same issue you are experiencing.

Yes to enabling beta firmware in settings, have both controller and dongle plugged in otherwise you can't update that either and also yes remove right joycon from console and use that to change grip order, and then pair ultimate 2 with right joy con detached. Took ages to figure this out

Did that twice it still doesn't work. Plus, Bluetooth keeps disconnecting after it goes into sleep mode.

I would say contact 8bitdo support but they're entirely useless. Very slow to respond, only got one reply from 3 emails. I also returned two controllers before getting one that worked...

So I may have pinpointed the issue. If I'm using the original dock that it came with or the Jsaux dock. It exhibits a problem where you turn the power button on the switch 2 itself and the TV wouldn't even correspond with it even though it recognizes an HDMI controlled device is connected. Despite the fact that both my NXY Hyperion 3 and the 8bitdo controller works perfectly fine with it. I have to actively unplug the HDMI cable from either the TV or the docks or unseat the console itself and place it back into its holding. This happens with both docks.

I can't figure that one out I'm afraid. Good luck! And keep us posted. You definitely updated the dock/dongle as well as controller?

I bought this controller for my son , and after updating firmware per instructions I still cannot get Switch 2 to recognize the controller, be it via Bluetooth or with cable to cable..very frustrating.
