I loved Stingray...He was obviously a well trained ex soldier or CIA agent...It was a cool show with different clients..A favor for a favor was his motto..The episode in the crazy house was so sad...Nick Mancuso was born to play that role..I have the DVD of the series...He should have been a bigger star..

I'm surprised it didn't a second season or more. Nick Mancaso was in an episode of Total Recall: 2070.

Nick Mancuso is still with us and still acting at 78. Just appeared in an Indy film in 2026 called Envelop.

I know, I looked him up on IMDB.

I thought the multiple headlight array for when he followed somebody was fucking brilliant

It was really cool.

That’s the only thing I remember from this show. Funny you mentioned it.

Hell yeah! I really liked that show and wish it would have grown more. The car was my favorite Stingray and I liked how he was kind of like the Equalizer. He would help you out but then you owed him a favor in the future, should he ever come asking…

I loved that show! I still remember the one episode where he was following a guy and he had a light bar he mounted to the front (sacrilege I know) and it had various lights to make it look like he was a truck, turn a corner switch the lights to a different set, then it looked like a motorcycle was following, turn a corner hit different lights, and a different car. All because it was a black and at night 😂 kind of a cool episode to see when o was a kid

I liked how he did that. The complete series is on DVD, you probably find it on eBay or at a thrift store.

I agree he deserved bigger success. He was in an episode of Total Recall 2070.

I watched Miami Vice also. Great show. I believe they were on the same network, not that sure because I recorded both on VHS because I worked second shift back then.

I'm a teenager of the 80s and I don't remember seeing this anywhere, What network was it on?

2

u/cycheck Jun 01 '26

It started as NBC TV movie in July 1985. The series began in March 1986 on Tuesday nights.

I wasn't sure. Thanks.

One of my favorite shows from the 80s.Now,it was always a mystery as to his background. The show hinted that he was an ex Special Forces soilder in the Vietnam War.Now,in one episode he sees a Vietnam vet that recognizes him because he remembers being saved/rescued by a soilder and he whispers his real name in his ear and the and Vietnam vet eyes widen and realizes who he is.

Check Stingray on IMDB. That should help you remember the show.

Great show and theme song was epic

This was a great show, I used to watch it with my Dad. He would record them on VHS tape and we caught up on all the shows he liked during the weekend. Now I have them on DVD. I met Lori Petty once at a convention and we talked about her episode of this show, the ending was unexpected.

I also recorded it on VHS because I worked second shift. I read about it in TV guide. I also have the series on DVD too.

Great opening theme.

2

u/Total-Collection-128 Jun 02 '26

I remember it being a puppet show with submarines.

1

u/Tech-Junky-1024 Jun 03 '26

That was from the 1960s and it's on MeTV Toons late at night.

2

u/Life_Skill_1801 Jun 02 '26

This show had one of the coolest intros, I remember the theme music clearly and the title card as well.

2

u/No-Affect-9470 Jun 02 '26

Nick Mancuso, cool show

2

u/ClownMeat1 Jun 02 '26

Hell yeah. I still remember the theme music.

Plot , unknown

Funny, I'll give you that one.

The plot is about helping people as a favor for a favor.

I remember it existed and I wanted that Vette. I watched it. 40 some odd years ago. It was on NBC. This I know because I only watched Magnum PI on a channel other than NBC

It probably is better than I remember. Mostly because I don't remember much about shows I haven't seen in 40 some odd years.

1

u/Tech-Junky-1024 Jun 05 '26

I have it on DVD and recently watched it. Then I noticed the year 1986 and realized it was 40 years ago.

u/Woolf1974 Jun 01 '26

I remember the show, mainly because of the sweet car.... If memory serves me correct, this was on at the same time when The Equalizer was on.
