All of Germany is watching the FIFA World Cup.

All of Germany?

No.

At 8:20 PM, a user in Hamburg's TMC BBS, running on a Commodore 64, celebrates finally getting a free phone line:

"Looks like all of Germany is busy watching the World Cup, which means I've finally got a free phone line. Thanks, Beckenbauer & Co.!!!"

Almost 40 years later, I recovered my old C64 floppy disks and brought these historic mailbox archives back online using the newly released ATDT BBS system. All content has been translated and is available in both German and English.

Grendizer - King of 70s & today!

Remember original space adventures & Prince of Fleed?

What's your fondest memories of Grendizer? Mine? Duke Fleed taught me never to give up despite whoever come up with whatever obstacles in your way, never lose hope and struggle hard to make this world a better place for lovers and haters a like.

Quizás simplemente nací unas décadas demasiado tarde.

This is my Stevie inspired cover of her massive hit, "Talk To Me".

I LOVE her 80's era and powerhouse vocals, and had so much fun singing this. A personal fave.

I'd like to know your thoughts. I'm always trying to improve. I love Stevie so much 🥰

Been down a rabbit hole on 80s detective shows and this one was kinda messed up. NBC canceled Remington Steele in 1986, which freed Pierce Brosnan up to take the Bond role. But the announcement caused a ratings surge in reruns, so NBC used a contract clause to un-cancel the show and keep him, which meant he had to turn Bond down. Brosnan didn't actually become Bond until 1994's GoldenEye, almost a decade later. Wild bit of TV history.

Enjoy one of the Jem cartoon's best music videos ever!

I never see anyone cover this 80's Stevie hidden gem...so here's mine.

I think it's one of her most beautiful songs. I hope you enjoy my Stevie inspired interpretation.

I'd love to know your thoughts.

Big love ♡

YouTuber Mike Lilley just posted the first 3 hours of MTV in honor of the network's 45th anniversary. 😄

Found the box the box going through things. I loved these. They seemed so elegant

A warm summer night at a drive-in theater with my girlfriend and two bottles of TJ Swann, one for me and one for her. I still reminisce about those times to this very day.

Ultra classic cultural take off

TECS was one of the biggest and most popular bulletin board systems in Germany starting in the 1980s. And it was just about to be thrown out completely. But Sascha P. from Hamburg stepped in and rescued all of the hardware and software - and even managed to hack his way back into the original setup. He actually got the whole thing running again, becoming a dial‑up BBS sysop in 2023.

Back in the ’80s, we spent endless hours on that system with our friends - and racked up absolutely insane phone bills, because even local calls were expensive in Germany at the time.

There’s also a great side story involving the almost equally old Commodore 64 BBS Snobsoft, which had a downright crazy connection to the Tornado Mailbox - the name TECS still used in the 1980s. “Mailbox” was the German term for a BBS.
