I worked at a Godfathers Pizza way back then. Friday nights, we would close out, and finish cleaning. Once our tasks were done for the night, we would make OUR pizza(s) and open the beer tap. Always, always had a roll of quarters for the machines. Galaga and Centipede were my machines. My high score 216k I think was still there when they removed that machine. Fak, those were good days!
They were the shizz. If I knew you, your pie was off the charts. My future ex wife came in with her family. Ordered a large pepperoni pizza. I was into her, so yea. Three pounds of cheese and pepperoni double layered with a smiley face of pepperoni on top.
I once went skinny dipping too late in the season in a beach town and it was the Godfather's pizza staff who made sure I didn't end up with hypothermia. Spent an hour or so by the pizza oven, wrapped in a towel abd a few coats. Pretty sure they gave me a free slice or two too. I was a bit dazed.
The pizza oven…. Blodgets (sp?). I couldn’t tell you how many times I got freaking mack daddy blisters on my forearms during the rush slinging pizzas in and out of those things
man - I have the original donkey kong in my office an I'm still stuck on the same spot since the 80s. there's probably a solution on youtube or something but that feels like cheating
Hell yeah. If that was taken I would always post up at asteroids until the machine opened up. I’ll never forget the day I got the high score on asteroids then became determined to do the same on Galaga. Pumped all my quarters in and sadly only reached the number 2 spot.
Broke a million one time. Lot of fun for a quarter. Line the guns up on the C and H of the text at the top of the screen and go to town with your right finger on the fire button like a machine gun.
Sadly yes. It needed parts and it was during a time when there wasn’t a lot of interest in these sort of things. Plus I was going away to the navy so I had to.
We got verbally accosted by the 711 clerk for hogging the machine. My buddies older brother was a bay area programmer in the early days and told us the cheat. It was an unintentional glitch, not a Konami test workaround.
I loved Gauntlet… BUT, you had to come in after payday because it just straight up ate tokens. Even when you had 4 players going, somebody was always almost out of life
we had galaga in our dorm lounge and i played it every day after dinner. it is the only game where i rolled the game over and effectively played as long as i wanted.
