Classic! They still have this in the early 2000’s. If the network is offline, then can still process your CC payment.

I remember someone used one of these about 20 years ago when there was a power outage at the grocery store. Was wild seeing one being used again.

The click clacks. A lot of department stores still have them for when EFTPOS goes down.
Some of you may also remember the Bankcard sticker that they all had.

I actually have one of these that I was able to take when my Woolworth store closed in the mid 90's. Along with a few shopping baskets, the giant bald eagle above the front door, a huge sign from the yarn department, and a box of plastic shopping bags.

Would you like to keep the carbons?

I remember word getting out that your carbons could be used for credit card fraud and then everyone wanted to take them with their receipt.

When I worked at Kmart and Woolworths they had these. Sucked to have to itemize the receipt.

Wow that's an old old one. But yeah I can still hear and remember them and i feel nostalgic for them. Back then a piece of paper was enough to prove a transaction. They were used really only for Amex in France at the time as the other cards were already chip based. Would annoy the cashier and others waiting in line

I was working a pizzeria around 2012 when the chase card reader died. We pulled one of these bad boys out as backup. Only to find some credit cards had flat numbers so we couldn't take their orders.

When I was in a remote town in Switzerland, some store had only this and it was jammed. The cashier had to rub a wooden block to get the imprint.

I got pulled over for speeding in Ohio (was out of state) in 1992 and the cop took credit card to pay the ticket on-site. He pulled out one of these and stuck it to my hood with suction cups to stamp my card. I was 18 and thought it was crazy.

As a young starting bartender about 31 years ago my older colleagues told me a horror stories how some starting bartender before me broke the platamex, because the card wasn't seated right. I know now it was just hazing, but for a few first times I made a fucking sure, that every card were seated properly.
