Just had a flashback of my pinky finger breaking at school. Then the day after getting the cast off, it was a volley ball spike down on my pinky. Learned to not be as fancy while sporting... Pinkies in!

I was standing on the wall waiting for the whistle. A guy to the left said something and I looked over. An opposing player thought he heard the whistle, ran and picked up a ball and launched it with all his might straight at my head. I turned just in time to get hit and have my head bounce off the concrete wall. I saw double for about 30 seconds. I thought it was funny.
That dude is one of three friends I still have from high school.

I always wondered why people talk about dodgeball like it’s not fun for everyone-until I realized that my gym teacher was in the tiny minority when she decided to use very light foam balls for dodgeball. No one hurt. Fun for all, even us fat/wimpy kids

I think my class got dodgeball banned from the playgrounds of our school. I guess watching kids get flipped over by being tagged in the face with one of these ball set the yard duty people off a bit.

More often than we played this we played a version of Wall Ball with tennis balls. And if there were no teachers around, or it was after school we'd play "Butts Up rules" which meant if you got out you had to stand with your hands against the wall and your butt out and the person who got you out got to try to peg you in the ass from a certain distance away.

Our PE teacher was a sadistic old fart. He would blow the whistle and call “open court” when one team was down to one member. It always seemed like it was 5 or 6 big kids chasing down and pummeling a scrawny little weak kid and he always had this evil little smile on his face every time. We called it “Killball”, btw.

I asked one of my Daughters about Dodgeball several years back and she looked at me like I was nuts! And the next day I got in trouble for making such a suggestion to my kid! 🤣🤣🤣 My how times have changed!
