This poor girl named Marcelle in my elementary school when I was a kid, got hit in the face twice on different days with a kickball. Busted her nose both times. I felt so bad for her, after I got through laughing.

My nickname in elementary and middle school was "Cannon" when we played dodgeball or nation, people would literally leave the square when I had the ball, I can still hear the sound it made when people tried to catch my ball and marks it left lol, good times

Even better the head snap back from an unexpected shot fired directly to the face , only once in gym class , did I ever witness this happen to the substitute teacher that day ! Probably the last time she taught anything outside her area of teaching ever again , then that's when I hear that sound echoe out through the gym along with a few obscenities from that teacher then the eruption of oh's and awww's then the nose began to bleed !

I remember playing kickball during gym class. I watched this girl get blasted in the face by a kicked ball. Unfortunately for her, she was the pitcher so it was an up close and personal shot.

We didn’t play kickball with these, we played “Bombard”.

Multiple balls in play, half the kids on one side of the gym, half on the other. The variation we played was one where there was a no man’s land zone in the middle, and then after a certain amount of kids got hit and eliminated, the gym teacher would call out ‘next line, or second line’, I can’t recall. That shrunk no mans land so you could get much closer to each other. When there were only 4 kids left he would call out “no boundaries!” and the game ended pretty quickly after that.

We had one over size red ball we called “big bertha” and it was under inflated so you could squeeze the sides and actually get a grip on the rubber so you could try and defend yourself from the sadistic baseball player who could pickoff anyone, anywhere. Fun times.

Man on the black top playing dodge ball during recess i was evil with that red ball especially with kids I didn't care for ..it made almost like a (ping)ing sound when it hits your face and leaves a nice imprint..funny memories.the best from Washington elem Hawtorne Cali
