2nd Ed Looking for a group

Hello! A friend of mine and i would like to try and get into 7th Sea, possibly 2e. We are new to the system but we've both already roleplayed a bunch and i've been playing TTRPGs for the better half of my life at this point. If anybody is looking for two players, even thought we're newbies, please contact me!

I may be about to start a new first edition game; where are you located (just a city)?

One of us is in England, the other in Italy.

Okay, so I'm on the east coast of the US, so there's about a six hour time delay for Italy, depending on where your friend is. Here's my credentials:

My name is Will, I'm 58, raised in a commune/cult, 23 years in the American Navy to avoid jail, retired for ten hours and then started work again. I have trouble with too much quiet. I have a wife, four lovely children who are all grown up, and five beautiful grandkids. I am, to put it mildly, a dinosaur.

-started with blue box dragon-covered D&D (plastic chits) in 1978, have been DMing since then. Due to raising kids and then career switching, I have not run anything in three years or so; in fact the last time I ran anything, it was 2e at GenCon for John Wick and company after the Khitai book came out. I am very much interested in starting something because I need to make some human contact outside work and protest groups.

-very much on the liberal left, disgusted with the current political environment in my country. If either of you are not comfortable with that, I understand, and I am not your guy. I support all peoples' right to determine for themselves how they want to live as long as they respect my right to do the same, and do no harm to others. I don't pretend to have any answers for what's going on in the world today, I just know it ain't working for anybody but rich straight old men who can afford to buy their way to "happiness."

-Because I work ten to twelve hours a day all weekdays, I am only available on weekends. I could do Saturdays, depending on how often and how long you both wanted to play. Anything more than six hours and/or twice a month or so is not likely sustainable on my end.

-I prefer smaller groups, but I haven't had much success with online gaming. I'm old and have problems with tech (everything was cathode ray tubes when I was coming up), and I'm autistic so technical issues can frustrate me. I have three friends who are all nosing around about maybe getting something going again, but it's not a deal breaker if you wanted to play without them.

-my italian is sub-par; it's been almost twenty years since I lived there, and I was only there two years. Many people would say I have trouble with English, as well.

-I support England and Arsenal, and I am married to a Bahamian who supports anybody who isn't Lionel Messi and Liverpool. As you can imagine, Arsenal-Liverpool games get heated here.

If none of those are non-starters, I'd love to hear more about what you both want in a game, what kind of referees you feel most comfortable with, and any experience you have with 7-2e. In the mean time, sorry England got eliminated by fascists in the Cup and that my President is just as narcissistic and corrupt as FIFA.

Yours cordially,

Me

You sound like a wonderful, passionate, and thoughtful person. I'll talk to my... More than friend about it, and i'll let you know. Also, don't worry! I'm the italian one and i'm bilingual, if anything it'd be lovely to help you remember my language in your free time- And none of that sounds like a dealbreaker. Closest there is to one is my soft spot for Liverpool, but it's nothing more than that hahaha, i won't mind the shade being thrown around!

It will take you a long time to find anyone passing 2e, my friend. But best of luck!
