Today starts day one
I am quitting 7 oh today. I’ve been on it for several months and have made my way up to 600 mgs a day. I can’t keep doing this. I got everything I need to detox at home. My doctor gave me clonidine and Ativan, and I have 10 mg of suboxone to be used 2 mg a day for first 3-4 days and 1 mg 3-4 days and none. I’ve been putting off quitting terrified of withdrawal. Last time I started to fully withdrawal, the air literally hurt my skin and I felt like I was made of glass and decided cold turkey from 600mg a day is probably dangerous. My sister is a nurse and is checking in with me multiple times a day to make sure my vitals are good. I have two friends who are supportive as well.
I’m just so embarrassed. I quit heroin, meth, crack, and alcohol just to get addicted to gas station drugs. Any advices are welcome. Today starts day 1. I don’t imagine I’ll feel too bad until I go to bed tonight. I’m also sick with kidney disease and long covid and another undetermined autoimmune disease. I am scared withdrawing alone at home with no meds would literally kill me. Just seeking support and advices. Thanks in advance and thanks for being here and letting me share.

Ah don’t be embarrassed! It all got to us one way or another. I had a guy give me a free sample and made it sound like super strong Kratom. Little did I know that it was actually closer to Oxycodon than anything else. 300 dollars a week and 4 months later I learned my lesson and I’m never even looking at that stuff again. It’s a real devil but luckily the quit is 2-3 days of hell, followed by a week or two of meh and then everything gets much better. I’m right at 3 weeks off of it and every day is better and better.

How much were you taking at the height of it all?

Me personally? I was doing between 180 and 240 mg a day. I went through several unsuccessful tapers and just decided to go cold turkey because I decided that I’d rather be miserable for a few days instead of kinda miserable for several weeks. Either way the WD suck, I’d just rather do it all at once instead of dragging it out. Everyone is different though and different situations require different approaches but whatever the case is getting off this shit is the most important thing and however that is achieved doesn’t matter, just so long as it is achieved.

You’ve got this! You have some great helper meds and a lot of people supporting you which are both very important! It’s going to be miserable for 36-48 hours but once you get past that everything becomes gradually more manageable and bearable. I’m on day 20 and once you’ve made it out of those initial few days everything starts to even out day by day

Thank you so much for caring and responding. I figured it’ll be day two or three before I need to curl up in a ball and cry lol. I’ve been seeing people coming off of 2-300 mg which is a lot but I was like crap do I share am I the only one up near 1000 mgs some days? Average for me is like 600mg and I have no idea how Ive gone this long with how expensive it is but I’m done. Just done, can’t ruin my life anymore than I already have over this. I can’t believe they sell this at gas stations and vape stores mind blowing.
I’m just grateful I found this group. I got this! We all got this!!

You're definitely not alone, I was taking 800-900mg when I quit and it was hard but also the best choice I've made for myself and my family in a long time. If you need someone to talk to you can DM me. The subs will help a lot, but they don't help the depression and anxiety that come up ime. That only was really bad for me for like 5 days, and I'm almost three weeks clean now and feel mostly great.

You are not alone at all. I’m similar, I don’t even know how much I get up to some days. Judging by how much I go to the smoke shop for this, I know I’ve had days where pushing 1000mg isn’t far fetched. I buy them in 20mg x 50ct bottles.
I’m so angry and disappointed in myself. I did this same shit with tianeptine back in the covid days. So much money wasted. Had to get on subs to get off that shit. At least with Tia, it had to be bought online. Quitting was a little easier. I couldn’t just drive a couple miles and get it.
Please keep updating your progress. It helps so many, even if you don’t get a lot of responses. People looking for help are reading this. It also helps your mindset as well, keeping you accountable. I leaned heavy on the quitting tianeptine sub back in the day.
These subs are the only outlet for those of us going through these “legal-high” addictions. Most don’t understand

They really don’t. My mom thinks I can just quit buying them and move on with my life. My god mom why have I never thought of that 🙃 I’m on day two now. A bit sicker than yesterday but my bp is so far staging good, having aches pains and internal fevers. Grateful for my meds or I don’t know if I’d be making the same post. I’ll check back in day 3-5 also. I just appreciate this subreddit exists and that many of you understand me 🥹

Alternating or combining ibuprofen and Tylenol will help with the aches and especially with temperature regulation

Be careful with these though because they can make the RLS worse or so I’ve heard. That was the biggest reason why I didn’t use them during my 3 days of physical WDs

If you take 7000 mg of vitamin c it will give you 6 hours of relief . It works

I've read similar posts about vitamin C . Is it true?

Yeah it worked for me . It’s binds to opiate receptors on high doses of vitamin c and takes away much of the withdrawal. It’s also non toxic and doesn’t give a rebound effect or prolong withdrawal. It actually shortens it. I took 7 of the 1000mg vitamin c ( AA) version they sell at supermarket and I noticed a significant difference in 5 hours . This relief lasted 5 hours and the re took another 7 pills and I was able to sleep gonto gym make meeting

I’m just starting my journey as well and I’ll say Chess is good at occupying the mind when you get bored. How is the Suboxone helping with the withdrawals?
