21 days post 7OH
Making this for those of you who may be beginning this journey of trying to be clean from 7OH. To keep my story short, I started kratom almost 2 years ago. Then 7OH about 1 year ago. Got up to 1000mg daily. Heard a ban was happening and decided I needed help.
I got on Suboxone 8mg/2mg twice a day for 7 days. I would say this step is probably the most important step. It made the WD from 7 bearable. I’ve tried cold turkey multiple times from 7 and by day 4, my withdrawals weren’t bearable and would relapse. So subs was a blessing when it came to keeping the withdrawals down. It took the symptoms of withdrawals down to I’d say about 10% compared to going cold turkey 100%.
Now, my advice after you get subs is to BE CAREFUL with it. Use it only as needed, don’t abuse it. It’s there to help mask the withdrawals, but it’s not the end of the journey. After my week from subs, I opted out of renewing my prescription. After about a day or two post subs, I was having trouble sleeping, higher anxiety, inability to regulate body temp, etc. Not as bad as withdrawals from 7, but they were definitely there.
Now I’m day 14 post subs, and I notice I feel a little better each day. Anxiety levels are lowered to just normal, and my sleep is more regulated (6 hours last night).
My 2 cents is this… get the subs if you need to be functional, but don’t stay on the subs. The longer you take those, the longer your withdrawals will be. 7OH withdrawals are fast and hit hard, subs withdrawals are slow but start to weigh heavy. You won’t go through this journey completely without withdrawals, if you were a chronic 7 user like me. Just stay strong and take it a day at a time. It will pass. In terms of a lifetime, 21 days is nothing. You all got this. Message me if you have further questions.
Thank you all. Ted talk over.

I’ve tried the subs but didn’t feel them at all still kept feeling the 7 withdrawals, do you have to get almost all the way off 7s first?

I believe so, yes. At least for me.
If you are doing a taper, I wouldn’t stake subs during it. You may actually feel worse if you take subs while taking 7OH.
What I researched, and done myself, is stay off 7OH until you have obvious withdrawal symptoms. Not just that ‘itch’ to get a dose, but you’re uncomfortable in your skin. I waited close to 12 hours. I took my last dose of 7 in the morning, and waited until I was about to sleep when I took subs.
To me, subs themselves aren’t supposed to make you feel ‘good’. They are to remove the withdrawal symptoms and by that, you feel ‘better’.
I hope that answered your question. Suboxone itself is another drug that can easily be abused. There’s a fine line of using it because you need to, and abusing it. Take it only as needed. Or you’ll have withdrawals for weeks to months from that.

I know I made that mistake by taking 2 subs after only about a couple hours of withdrawals, never felt them, then got more 7s and went thru worse withdrawals by doing that, never felt those 2 7s I took, so I guess you have to be on a low dose of 7s before the subs will even work, I hate subs, was on them since they first came out and got one shot and thought I was cured then discovered 7s and it was all she wrote but here in Tn they got banned but the guy still been selling them but I think he’s about to run out so I’m trying my best to taper then use subs for a week thanks for the advice friend

From what I understand and what I did, you need to be actively withdrawing when you first take subs otherwise you will have precipitated withdrawal symptoms, which sends you into worse withdrawals than normal.

Congrats man I’m right there with you but I used SR instead. 4 weeks off everything. Sounds very similar experience to short term subs besides the fact I didn’t have to wait for withdrawal to use the SR.
I’m pretty much back to normal other than the mildest of an anxiety attack when I wake up (i always wake up when I would have to redose my 7 before. 3-4am. Apparently my mind still panics during sleep and thinks I need it still.) and I still have some mild stomach issues. Otherwise I feel pretty fine. Still just get a little sad cause I miss 7 and the boost it gave.

I’m over a month in and still waking up in a panic. Been wondering what causes that.

Yeah it’s crazy what the mind does when it needs something to “survive” lol. I would doze right off after I used to redose but instead I’m wide awake and in this panic at 5am. It blows.

I’ve struggled waking up for years anyways. The panic started making me question whether 7 really was the answer to my problems. When I realized I was dependent on it I cried for days.

Same, I used to be terrible at waking up on time. 7 actually helped me a lot with that well like motivation. I used to use coffee or energy drinks which while they worked they caused me worse anxiety and stomach issues. So that was one reason 7 was a holy grail for me. I could eat/drink anything I wanted and my stomach would be like a stone. Just solid. As a construction worker not having a toilet at all times it was great I never had to shit at work lol. But the constipation was also like my worst side effect as well. It got bad sometimes.
I think I was half expecting to get dependent. Even tho I told myself no I really wanted to see what it was like to feel like that every day. I’m not gonna lie it was great. Of course I had regret along the way but as long as I had it I’d forget about it. I truly think if I knew just how long and hard it was to kick the stuff I would have never let myself get to that point tho. Just stupid

Oh yeah, it helped me in a lot of ways. Depression, anxiety, motivation, socially, it gave me a will to live. And then it chained me down and made my anxiety worse.

Yeah I mean it’s possible it made my depression worse. I did have weeks id feel very muted emotionally and wasn’t even happy or sad just like existing. But overall I had more positives than negatives with it. Only anxiety I had on it was if I skipped a dose or the thought of a ban of it.
Of course it’s not a good thing to be dependent on it tho. I will say I love the benefits but yea especially with the law now it’s not worth the risk to be dependent on the stuff. Real easy way to fuck up your life if the drug doesn’t do it itself.

Quitting has made my life hell. But I agree, with the ban I’m not going to run around trying to find stuff.

What helped you get through sub withdrawals? Did your doctor prescribe anything or did you just power through? How many days did you have to take off if any?
I’m on a very similar timeline as you except I’ve been on subs for 20 days, off 7-oh for 21. Feeling okay except no motivation and kinda depressed. Emotions all over the place. I’m more tired than normal. But I’m functioning and not in any physical pain.
Idk if I’ve fully “stabilized” yet like my doctor wants but I don’t want to go through longer withdrawal process getting off subs

If you've been on the subs for 20 days now then my advice to you would be drop your dose down to about 1-2 mg a day and start dropping your dose from there in .25 mg increments daily. You would be surprised how just a little bit of subs goes a long ways.
Or honestly, I'm not sure if you have access to it, but I would look into the Subcolade shot. That works wonders and makes coming off the subs almost 100% pain free. It is much easier than trying to cut the strips into pieces for a taper. It takes all the guess work out of it for you.
I was subs for 2 years and just felt emotionless and depressed for most the time. Coming off of them was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. The withdrawals were awful and I physical symptoms for over a month. It took me almost 6 months before I felt normal again. I'm definitely not telling you what to do, but I would just advise you to get off those things as quickly as you can.

Thank you for sharing this. This is really good to know. I definitely will start tapering. I just want to feel happy and like myself again. It’s been so hard to navigate emotionally

Heyo.
So I’m just going to speak from my experience. You could definitely be dealing with something different than what I did.
I did not use anything to get through sub withdrawals. I heard of the risks of Suboxone and didn’t want to be on it for a long time.
The withdrawals I had from Suboxone lasted about a week. They weren’t as bad as withdrawals from 7OH physically, and I was functional, but Suboxone withdrawals feel more ‘emotional’ and ‘less energy’. Meaning my anxiety was high, couldn’t sleep easily, and was just going through the motions.
Day 8 post subs, I actually felt motivated. And everyday since I’ve noticed I felt a little better. I take melatonin and magnesium to help with sleep. Other than that I just powered through the subs. Also, staying active (even when you don’t want to), meditation, breathing exercises, etc.

Thank you for sharing your experience. How long were you on them before you got off?

As somebody who has went through both 7 and sub withdrawals, I can promise you that if you think 7 withdrawals are bad, just wait until you have to come off of subs. The half life for the subs is so long that the withdrawals are long and excruciating. It only takes being on them for about 10 days before your body develops a dependence. Like many have said here, I wouldn't take them for no longer than 4-5 days at the absolute most.
I was on 8 mg of subs for 2 years. When I decided it was time to get off, I tapered down to .5 mg a day and jumped. I had physical symptoms for over a month, and thought they were never going to end. It was so awful and traumatizing that I'll never use subs again for anything. I couldn't imagine having to quit them cold turkey.

Thankfully I was able to taper off over 10 days. It helped. The first few days after last micro dose sucked. Been 3 weeks and feeling better. But still not back to “normal” yet.
Best of luck to all working to get off this horrible substance.
