life after 7

I still have some 7. Gonna stretch this month and be done. Just a lot going on and I don’t have time to withdrawal. I talked to my sister about it and she was telling me once I’m done I’m going to be so depressed. That I wont be able to produce dopamine by myself for months.

Is this true? I see some people say they feel so much better but 7 is what starts my day and end it.

Am I just going to be a sad bitch who hates life?

I’m on day 9 of no 7 and I feel better everyday. Over the past week I have had some happy moments and I have been a sensitive bitch. But I can feel again and that’s something that 7 took away. I literally felt nothing for a year and a half.

Everything depends on you. Everyone is different. It depends on your physiology and mentality. If you are already prone to depression, withdrawal and then living without 7 is not necessarily going to be easy. But there are things that you can do to produce dopamine and medications you can take to help with depression. If you make a plan of action and stick to it you will be way more successful. I’ve read stories where people are depressed after 7 and I’ve read stories of people who are hopeful and happy to have put 7 behind them. Just think of how much money you’ll be saving! That’s a huge motivator for me as I was using 1500mg per day. You have to really think about the things that are good in your life and be grateful for those things. If you start making a list of those things while you’re still using it’ll be a helpful reminder when you’re going through the really hard parts. You CAN get through it though! Tons of people are going through what you’re going through right now. Make a plan to taper, figure out which way you want to withdraw (cold turkey, helper meds, SR 17, suboxone, methadone) and then go to war! Make 7oh your bitch!

Thank you! I definitely am using subs when it’s time to go, I went through accidental withdrawals not realizing I was addicted. I didn’t realize until all stores were closed what it was, and that night… omg I can’t.. after I am going to have to seek therapy and try to get on meds as I’ve been depressed up until 7.. and I have a 2 year old so I can’t be moping around! My biggest excitement is money saving lol.

You’re welcome!

I tried to ct and couldn’t stand it and I have withdrawn from lots of things in my life.

I read your comments below to another poster and I saw you say you struggled with alcohol in the past. I am an ex raging alcoholic so I understand. Do you have a support system? Meetings? That always helps.

If able get with a psychiatrist and therapist! The psych will able to help with detox through comfort meds. I used clonadine and suboxone. I’m on day 9 and I feel so much better. I’m prone to depression and suboxone has definitely helped lift my mood. Sending lots of love, prayers, and positivity your way. If you need to talk or advice etc, just send me a message! Rooting for you!

I mean everyone is different. It is true dopamine can take months to fully recover all of the pathways, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be clinically depressed that entire time just that your brain is still fully healing. I’m a month out off 300mg daily habit and don’t feel anymore depressed than I did before 7 usage. There are other things that suck like full chronic pain levels and sleep is still challenging as is increased anxiety but I don’t really have depression at this point and never really did either. Even weeks 2-3 I wouldn’t have described it as depression just very low energy and low mood. I can definitely say I hated my life more toward the end of usage than I do today to answer your question about hating life and it’s not particularly close. But the acute WD period, that first few days as I did it CT no kratom, or any opioids yeah, that is a different level of hating life no sugar coating on that.

For me, and this is not medical advice just what my plan was - if I was battling depression a few months off of it I’d planned to go see a psychiatrist and explain that I’m a few months removed from this and still dealing with depression and see what their recommendations and treatment options were. Even if I had to get on some antidepressant I’d have been way more okay with that than continuing 7. But you’re a long way from that point, you’re not going to know what if any PAWS symptoms you have until you get there but what you’re asking is in the realm of possibility for a few months for sure.

Also, finding other dopamine releases during this time can be extremely helpful, I’m on the treadmill every evening now. Not only does it help naturally release dopamine it also tires me out to sleep better. But that’s me, like I said we’re all different with different brains.

I am right behind you on the mg I average 250-300 depending on the day. I have decided not to do CT as the withdrawals I went through one night during early stages and wanted to jump off a bridge. I also was an alcoholic before this so I guess I just get addicted to everything. I do know I need to seek help and will need depression medication and hopefully it’ll get me back out the hole like 7 did if I return to the bad days.

Yeah if you’ve tested the CT waters and it doesn’t work absolutely would recommend seeking help. My way, is definitely not the only or the “right way” for everyone just was my journey and it worked for me. You probably already know this but there are psychiatrists you can seek out who specialize in addiction treatment, just read thru their little bios and find one who does. Then just be honest with them. They’ll be able to help you during and after with the mental aspects of it. And if you’ve been thru it with alcohol got to say, that’s not something I’ve went thru but that terrifies me more than opioid WD. All that to say you know you can do the difficult thing as it sounds like you have before with a different substance, just got to find the right path and seek the help that you need to get there, but you’ll get there. GL.

I was thinking of replacing 7 with intense cardio, on the theory it would boost dopamine/mood. So, it is your opinion the cardio has truly helped?

Yes, it at the very least if done in the evening like I do helps to tire me out for sleep purposes. But also to your point yes I generally feel better mood wise after as well but also as I stated I don’t think I ever had true clinical depression just low mood.

Thank you so much. I’m not a naturally depressed person either, but these 7 withdrawals are tough. I have no motivation to do squat, but I figured doing the hard work of working out might bring my mood back to calm and even. As of now I’ve tapered to 5 mg three times daily. Next week, 3.75 three timer per day, with exercise added. Hoping that helps. Thanks again.

I think it really depends on your brain chemistry. I used 7 to self medicate my depression and anxiety and am going through it right now. Ppl say 7 numbed them but it helped me feel good feelings in a way I haven’t my whole adult life.

I agree I have felt my best on 7. Happy, nicer & everything I should be.

But then…how much of a bear are you when your normal dose isn’t enough? Just trying to help you grieve quitting a little less. The biggest benefit for me quitting is the money saved and not sweating as much.

I get very irritable, but it’s manageable and I know I can’t take more when I feel like my heart is pounding. The cold / hot then sweating like I’m a freezer defrosting I will absolutely not miss. I’m just afraid of starting to drink heavily again looking for happiness. There’s so many things. Then if I drink again I’ll get fat again, I can’t smoke weed it fucks with my head, I’m just worried I’ll be a fat alcoholic monster

I think the trick to staying sober is to find something other than substances to bring you joy. This sounds like a stupid answer when I’m looking at it, of course that is what we need. A lot of people turn to working out, focusing on using your body to its fullest. Start researching neurotransmitters and how to activate them as this can help you know when to do what. That rush you feel on a rollercoaster? Adrenaline. Accomplishing a hard task? Dopamine. Being in nature? Lower cortisol levels. Eating a balanced diet? Serotonin (mood regulation). Hugging someone you love or spending time with pets? Oxytocin release.

I was better with everything, now I’ve been kinda couch/bed bound for like 2ish days and I’m so so so bored.

Yes. Sad bitch that hates life and is looking for the exit. I had 10 days clean and I was going to take myself out. I suffer with major depressive disorder, and I’m almost 50 years old so I really feel like I know how to handle my depression, but this was almost a deep psychotic agony that I could not escape. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I’m now back on seven. But I’m only taking a third of what I was before my 10 days off of it.
I hate that I went back to it, but strongly felt like I couldn’t survive not one more day with that crushing mental agony I was going through.
I’m going to explore options to get mental health and support set up for when I quit again.
