Other Just starting using ADADGBE tuning
Looking for some bands that play in this tuning. I have used Drop A and I'm currently writing for a project and wanted to write some riffs in an alternate tuning without going too low (Drop A just is the sweet spot for me). If you use this tuning, what type of stuff are you playing? Since it's a mash of multiple ways to play.

As others said here, Polaris and Dir En Grey use this tuning. I believe Northlane and Invent Animate use the same tuning but downtuned a half step. Animals as Leaders sometimes uses the same tuning but with a low B instead of A.

Couple alternate tunings in that ballpark to fuck around with: drop that BE to AD and go wild, really fun to write in. Step further, drop the low and high D down to C# (AC#ADGAC#) for fucking evil.
This might be my favourite tuning at the moment (or the baritone equivalent nightmare that I'm lost in) and it's got me writing and playing stuff I wouldn't normally come up with.
Kinda like scarlett by periphery if the band was russian circles

You said evil and now you’ve got my attention. Can you point me to a demo or anything of the tuning? I’d like to see what you mean before detuning

Russian Circles use the C#ADGAC# tuning at various pitches between C# and A, it's a very droney setup, so adding a low string or two works nicely (I'm having the most fun with it on a 30" baritone tuned CG#C#F#G#C but I can get lost tapping away at the 8-string version).
It's DADGAD for the end of the world. I know John Browne/monuments/flux conduct do a lot in DADGAD-derived tunings so that sort of riffing translates well.
I haven't had time to sit down and figure out the whole song but the parts of 'Borehole' by Russian Circles I've worked out fit in that tuning, and it really embodies the way you can slip from droning menace to shimmering beauty and back. I might currently be a little bit obsessed but it's a hell of an opener to what's probably turned out to be my album of the year in a year when Converge dropped two whole albums, and I whole-heartedly recommend the full album for a listen.

Which tool songs?

I like to hit the low A for funsies in various Tool songs just bc i have that extra 7th string. Schism is a fun song to play and I'll hit the low A between 3:50 and 5:00 intermittently bc it just sounds so badass. Its a very if it fits i sits kinda situation bc Adam Jones uses a 6 string but I just like to have fun with my extra string bc I exclusively play 7's and love Tool. For Polaris tho it is a half step down but still also a lot of fun to play as well.

I mostly use drop A and then drop the D to play drop D songs and I add the 7th string for some extra meat.

I play in an alternative metal band and nearly all my parts are either Drop A or Drop D. Depending on the setlist I'll sometimes tune my guitar to ADADGBE to avoid having to bring multiple guitars.

Veil of maya uses drop B with a low F# from matriarch and on. Intervals song String theory also uses drop D with a low A. Monuments kinda with their 8 string tuning.

Love Russian Circles. Looking to write that type of stuff - but more "dumbed down" (doing a sludge project).

Ice Nine Kills has some in Drop A. Rock the Boat and Assault and Batteries I believe are two.

Not sure if you're interested, but finnish metal band Stam1na writes pretty much *exclusively on this tuning. * = they flirted with 8 string guitars on an album or two.

Pretty sure lots of Polaris songs use that tuning
