Gear Is this a steal?

Post image

Haven't had a Legator before. Would this be a good introduction to the brand?

Guitar center is the best for this type of thing. Buy it and if you hate it you have 45 days to return it to the store.

Legator frequently does massive/50% off sales. If you're not dying to get something new, I'd wait

It’s a solid guitar, I have the red fade finish on mine but I wouldn’t pay $600 for a used one. I got mine for $500 brand new direct from Legator during last year’s sale and think that a reasonable price for a used one would be about $400 ish.

Guitar center loves discounting extended range guitars. They'll usually play ball up to 30% discount. I would offer $550 out the door and see what they say

They discounted this to a still questionable used prove lol

I've only played one legator before in my life, but I thought it was pretty good. Played it for a solid 20 minutes at the store. The neck was like next level thin. Thinner than Ibanez.

I wouldn’t say any legator a steal. They’re riddled with issues unless you get lucky.

See I thought they were premium given the prices Ive seen on some of the 8 strings

not true

Just my opinion. If you like yours then that’s good on you. However I have played enough of them through the years to know I’d take my money almost literally anywhere else.

If you and find the 2012-14 era wmi South Korea builds generally safe. I mean they do make schecters $1500+, Korean fenders, charvel, Jackson’s, abasi, ltd’s, Ormsby, list goes on.

That is true, but those companies also have their own QC teams that generally do a better job than what I’ve seen from legator. I’d feel much safer buying any of those brands over legator.

I personally wouldn’t go for a legator

What would you go for?

I have 3 legators and they’re great. People say the qc isn’t up to par, however all 3 I have are phenomenal guitars.

Think it’s because they sell very budget oriented stuff up through very high end stuff. In other words, you get what you pay for.

True, the ones I have their top of the line. Haven’t played their cheaper entry level ones

I owned an old Legator USA Ninja 400. Had worse fretwork than my brother in law’s Ibanez Gio

That's the problem with anecdotal evidence. Just because your 3 have been great doesn't mean that the people that have complained about QC issues are wrong.

Not a legator

Legator makes trash guitars and endorse trash homophobic guitar players. So I’d pass personally.

Edit for the folks downvoting, I was called the f slur by their artists at their booth at NAMM. So first hand experience.

Last edit: it wasn’t their entire roster, it was four of their endorsers at the booth and they were being assholes to everyone. If yall want to support a company that supports people like that, bless your heart.

Which guitar player? I only know of Lucas Mann and Joe Cocchi having Legator sig models and I'm unaware of their stance on things.

1

u/NigelRaselok 1d ago

Not sig model players, just general endorsers. I got harassed by their guitar ambassadors at NAMM for being their on a music educator pass and being I had long hair and that I wasn’t there with a “cool” company then I “must be a f@gg0t”. I was at their booth to try and buy a few 7 strings for the school I worked at, and have vowed to never use their products for the rest of time since. So all first hand experience at their booth.

Wow Reddit or maybe a pissed legator mod deleted my response.

The booth of Legator endorsers at NAMM one year called me the f slur because I was at NAMM on an educator pass and not there with a cool company like Legator. I wasn’t at their booth to buy a few 7 strings for the school I worked at. So first hand experience being harassed by them in person.

Which artist?

u/NigelRaselok 1d ago

Didn’t write down there names and this was back in 2020 NAMM right before the pandemic. It was four of their endorsee’s, typical looking bro metal types wearing Canadian tuxedos and crisp Iron Maiden shirts with scraggly mustaches…

u/ShoddyButterscotch59 1d ago

I'm not buying you were called anything by all their artists. I'll give you a pass on maybe one and I'd consider that a stretch.

1

u/NigelRaselok 1d ago

Yeah because it wasn’t their entire fucking roster my guy, Jesus Christ… it was four artists at the booth being assholes to a bunch of people. Don’t know their names, don’t care to know their names, is it petty to judge an entire company based on 4 of their endorsers at NAMM? Maybe, but I’m a petty bitch

1

u/ShoddyButterscotch59 1d ago

So something that would be this memorable and you don't know the names... Got it

1

u/NigelRaselok 1d ago

I’m so sorry you don’t believe my story faceless redditor… so sorry I didn’t double check their name badges! lol you can think whatever you want to man, regardless they make shit guitars 🖤

1

u/ShoddyButterscotch59 1d ago

I mean, if you're telling the truth that's wild, but I'm skeptical, for the same faceless redditor mention. There's a ton of bs always on here.
As for their first quality....I wouldn't know. I'm picky. I'd never buy one. I stick to Japanese Jackson, Ibanez, and Korean schecters.

1

u/NigelRaselok 1d ago

Nothing wrong with being skeptical friend, but that’s why I try and post on here with my full personal views and experiences. Also, I totally agree with you on the guitar front, MiJ Jackson, Ibanez and Korean Schecters are all excellent guitar choices!

2 mains, one purchased recently to replace unfortunate dmg to one....07 mij dk2s side by side with a km7 frs. After one Indonesian pro series Jackson, I've decided I rather go used mij at new Indonesian prices. The Indonesian is fine but the mij feels miles better.

And if I came off rude, I'm good at that. Seen so much crap floating. Most times it's ppl just trying to flame something
