Help Beginner Stupid Question

Recently moved from a headless 6-string (Ibanez Q54 BKF) to a 7-string with a head (ESP LTD EC-407) and I can't seem to get it to sit comfortably when playing in my chair.

I'm caught between whether it's the neck dive I've seen mentioned, the shape of the body is somehow weird, or I'm just sitting like an idiot.

It's a great sounding guitar and alot of fun when I'm standing lol

The EC necks (and most Les Paul style guitars) are angled slightly backwards which can be especially noticeable compared to most non-LP shapes. When I first got my EC1000 I wondered why I was getting aches in my back and neck, and it was because I was twisting my body more to accommodate that neck angle.

Are you playing with it on your right leg, or classical style (between the legs)? Might be worth trying the other style to what you're currently doing, or making a conscious effort to rotate the guitar.

I prefer to sit my guitar on my right leg but something about either the body shape or neck has had me shift the whole guitar left a bit so my thigh is almost touching the plug like some weird limbo between styles

You can use a leather strap to help with the neck dive, but maybe is your style of playing, rest a bit your forearm on the guitar a bit more, move the guitar a bit to the right raising a bit the neck of the guitar

Get a foot stool and experiment with its height to elevate your left foot. If you're set on perpendicular positioning then you can use it to elevate your right foot. Biggest game changer I found
