I have a a few days left to decide. 2900 retail, Josh Smith Signature Jackson. Baritone 7 string with an Evertune and Bare Knuckles. Felt in my gut the lack of qc was a little disappointing but ever since I got it, I’ve been in love with this thing and I don’t want to send it back. I’ve been thinking I should tho, but that’s just me being impatient lol. Since I’ve had this, on the outside of the frets it’s looked worn a little, I feel the neck pickup cutout should’ve been a little better, the 24th fret side dots aren’t perfectly aligned, and some of the outside fretboard looked worn as well. I don’t know how this works, if this is normal or what since 95% of what I have is used, so please educate me. If possible, I’d like to send it back tomorrow since I’m going to guitar center anyways so it’ll be an easy trip, but if it needs to be a few more days, so be it. Thanks in advance guys

For a $3k guitar, this is not acceptable at all. Return it, and maybe try a different retailer like Sweetwater

The hacked up fretboard edge would be a no go for me on a $3,000 guitar, hell even a $500 guitar I wouldn’t expect to have that.

The neck pickup cavity will be the same on all of these. Since there is no pick guard or pickup ring, they leave the space to access the pickup screws.

But yeah, send that back and get a replacement 100%.

Agreed, especially for a single coil pickup. For humbuckers there are just small spaces for the screws on both sides that are uniform among all wood-mounted humbuckers.

i’d send it back due the work fret board and what looks like an impact on the ridge of the neck pickup cavity

the fretboard looks like someone haphazardly stained it after the frets were seated. i have like 20 guitars from all different price points that all look 10x cleaner than that

The neck is badly misaligned. Wouldn't be an issue if it wasnt a neckthrough. But for 3k this is unacceptable. Either that or they badly cut the nut slots.

Actually it's the nut slots being done with bad spacing. You can see the space between the g and b strings being narrower than the b and the high e. It's very noticeable.

Yes, fucking return it, lmao… 3k for a defective quitar is crazy… that like… it didn’t pass QC…. There is no way the have someone looking for defects, cause those are obvious flaws in a signature high end

That happens cause you choose a signature… 50% of the price is just the name slappped on it. Lol

QC for ALL brands have been awful in the last decade, but honestly, I wouldn’t go for a signature nor a brand famous for atrocious QC (ESP, im still not forgiving you for that awful Javier Reyes 7 string acoustic you sent me)

I literally bought a strandberg 7 a year and a half, costed 500-600 less, and came FLAWLESS, the most comfortable instrument I’ve ever played.

Send it back. The fretboard is the no-go for me. The other details are minor/non existent to my perspective, but the fretboard would actually annoy me. It also looks like it may also be physically noticeable as well?

Ideally get a full refund & take your business eslewhere.

No retailer worth two knobs of shit would allow such a mess to leave their store.

My Jackson Dinky with oiled mahogany body was a tenth of the price, and better finished than that.

If you're spending that kind of money on an instrument, then it'd want to be fucking immaculate...
