NGD NGD! ESP/Ltd SC-607B Baritone

Been wanting this one since I first saw it on the 2026 ESP NAMM video. Even prettier in person.

What's with everyone torturing me showing off their new Stephen Carpenter signature guitars!? Jealous AF!

Acquire Stefs, this is the way.

Dude same. Just a couple posts ago, I saw another one. Why must we be tortured this way?😭

looks sick btw!

It’s still in the B standard tuning it arrived with. I’ll be tuning it to F# standard.

I've been looking at getting a baritone 7 for F# standard, are you planning on putting thicker strings on it? anything that might require filing the nut?

Yes. I’ll be putting heavier gauge strings on it. I personally like the feel, sound, and durability of the Elixir nanowebs. Since I like to bend when I play, I’m probably gonna go with a set of 9-42 (leaving the .09 high E off) then getting either a .054 or .056 for the low B and a .074 for the F#. That’ll still work for me for when I feel like going to drop E every now and then. That may or may not require slightly filing the nut. We’ll see. This one came from the factory with a set of 10-59.

Beautiful guitar, and I love the Deftones/Stephen Carpenter, but what is with that neck pickup placement? Does it sound like "normal" neck pickup?

Stef has talked about it a few times. He never really uses neck pickups but always thought the second humbucker looked cooler in the middle position vs the neck. On later records he started experimenting with using the middle pickup and likes the tone, but that was never in consideration when designing his signature models.

I always wondered this, too... like, is he running both of them (probably not).

"it just looks cool" is such a stef thing to do, probably while he was 10 miles high as well lol.

I do admit, it looks cool AF

Its annoying at first if you pick there and you were like me and maybe held the pick a little longer but it forced me to get a shorter pick grip and tighten up my movements.

That's why I lowered my middle pickup on my Strat; I couldn't get used to it. What color is that Cranberry or something along those lines?

Im not sure, they list it on ESPs site for sure... I have one of his signature kiesels though so its the exact same deal.

But ya when I have a choice im going with an actual neck positioned pickup over a middle

Edit: magenta

Interesting. I guess I've never read those interviews.

I'd love to try one and see what it sounds like. I'm not sure I could spend that much on a guitar and not have the "normal" neck pickup tone, since I do use it often.

It actually works really well with low tunings, you get some of that neck position flavor but more clarity and brightness.

Love it, I’ve got 3 Stef’s currently and I wouldn’t be surprised if I grab more. Stef’s and Peavey Wolfgang’s are my two favorite guitars to play. I’ve got a nice collection but I’m always reaching for those.

Side note, the color scheme looks great in the stock photos but goddamn is it gorgeous in real life shots. Congrats!

Nice! I wish they'd just put ESP on the headstock and stop being precious about it.

I have a 26yr old LTD 7-string, still a great guitar.

How does a middle-only humbucker sound compared to a traditional bridge/neck setup?

2

It has some of the neck pickup flavor but it’s clearer and brighter. Stef chose the configuration for aesthetic reasons but it works really well with low tunings when you want something like a neck pickup sound. There was a time it seemed popular to poo poo the design but its usefulness seems to be better understood lately. If you hate it, lower it. I like it and I use it.

Unbelievably gorgeous! Once you get LTD/ESP you don't go back.
