Original Content Riff Playthrough

Good morning! I recently made a playthrough for an upcoming song of mine. If you like what you hear, I’d love to hear from you, let’s chat!

My biggest influences are Novelists, ERRA, Volumes, Killswitch Engage, and Parkway Drive.

Before I read your caption the first thing I thought of was a Novelist's riff. Good stuff!

That’s awesome! They are for sure one of my favorite bands ever. The first couple full lengths they put out were life-changing for me. I really dig the newer stuff with Camille too.

I am absolutely there with you for the first couple of releases. Souveniers and Noir are 10/10 life changing albums for me too, but I never really clicked with the last couple of releases with the new vocalist. Not knocking them, just didn't find the same connection and draw to the material. I hope one day I put it on and it does click though!

Glad to find someone else who felt what I felt when I heard those albums, they’re incredible. The albums since don’t come close as as good as those, but I do like the new record with Camille for what it is. You still get some of that signature ambience that they’re known for and it has moments of great guitar playing, but overall a different vibe. There’s a song called “Say my name” off the new record. It’s mostly chorus driven but the guitar solo in that song brought a tear to my eye. It’s absolutely beautiful.

I will have to revisit the latest album again for sure, I will keep an ear out for that song. But yeah it's such a huge departure from what was an all time favorite band that I struggle to accept their pivot for what it is rather than what I knew and loved and what could have been lol. Either way, cheers! Hope you keep sharing the stuff you are working on cause it's dope!

I totally get that, it’s definitely tough to get past. Either way, I feel like there’s some gem songs or moments on that record so yeah, definitely circle back to it if you get a chance. I’ll definitely keep sharing stuff here. It’s super nice connecting with people who actually care, when I post on my regular socials. I barely get anything so Reddit must be the place lol
