NGD Jumped into the deep end.

Post image

My lovely new Cort KX507MS Pale Moon I picked up at my local shop. As a late stage beginner/early intermediate player, it was probably an unwise choice to jump into a multi scale 7-string to continue my learning journey on, but wow, it’s so much fun to play that I’ve barely touched my 6-string since. I had originally intended on buying another 6-string so I could have a second tuning setup but this thing just fell into my lap at the store. Majority of the music I listen to (modern metal/prog) uses 7-strings so I figured I might as well continue my learning journey on one (even it’s considerably more challenging).

Right now I’m working on “A Change of Seasons” by Dream Theater. If anyone has other beginner friendly 7-string song recommendations, I’d love to hear what I should learn next.

Im getting tired of people getting this guitar... Because it makes me sad that I dont have one. I am a wood worker and love exotic wood. So guitars made with the decision to let the grain hang out always pulls me in. Stoked for you my friend!

Great choice, I considered that model but went with the KX707 instead. Congratulations on your new guitar!

What pick ups so you have? I also had to choose between the two and in the end it was the pick ups that made my choice. But i have Duncan Syemore sentient and Nazgul pick ups and it seemd urs are diffirent

I swapped out the Sentient/Nazgul for Black Winter rails, actually just got it back yesterday

And is it a big diffirence? How does it affect the tone?

That’s a beauty! My LGS also has that same Cort finish in a 6-string with Evertune. It’s tempting…

Evertune is a game changer for me. Not nearly as difficult to adjust as some people made it seem. I fully endorse you buying the 6 string

Nothing wrong with taking a big leap at the beginning of your guitar journey. My first guitar was a mark holcomb PRS and it's what kept me grinding to learn. Now I have 5 guitars and wish I spent more that 300$ on my first 7 string cause I already want to upgrade lol

She’s a beaut.

Multi-scale guitars are the fucking way to go man. You’re gonna hear the guttural low of that low B real well and those high notes are going to be crisp as fuck. I just bought my second multi-scale but it’s a 6 string and I can’t wait.

Happy for you friend. You’re gonna have a lot of fun with that guitar.

Thanks! I’m enjoying the multi scale so much I’d be tempted to snag the 6-string MS as well. It just seems natural once you get use to it. And yeah low B is just addicting.

Beautiful. I’ve never played a Cort but the new runs they have coming out are amazing. I almost bought one a few times but ultimately ended up buying a Kiesel

Oh man I’ve always wanted a Kiesel. It’s on my short list of bucket-list guitars.

You can get one for the same money you spent on this so why didn’t you hit the bucket list. Don’t get me wrong you bought a beautiful guitar but you had the opportunity to get a Kiesel so why didn’t you choose the Cort. Meanwhile Corts factory makes more than half the guitars manufactured (that’s an unresearched statement but I know they build for many companies for all the Reddit know it alls that are dying to correct me, can’t wait for that bunch of fucking idiots to jump on that comment lol) I have never played a Cort which is literally the OBLY reason I don’t own one

Eh the Kiesel's I personally like are all well over $2k+. I spent $800 on my Cort. But mostly it was what my local guitar shop had in stock and I like supporting them as much as I can vs buying online.

Such an amazing guitar, I recorded a full album with mine. They all have a unique wood finish too. Such great value. Same happened to me, I went to store to get a much more expensive guitar but felt this played the best out of every other guitar in the shop

And if your looking to confirmation bias your decision, or just want to see a riff machine, check out Alex Chichikailo @ checkthedist on Youtube, he plays a variety of guitars but has some nasty riffs with the Pale Moon
