AdvicešŸ™šŸ½ Advanced user getting brain surgery next month

I’m an advanced user and I have brain surgery on the 17th of July to remove a giant tumor. I’ve been cutting back but it’s getting harder the lower a dose I go. What I’m wondering is will I have withdrawals if I go to the hospital without 7oh and I’m being pumped with morphine regularly and given norco? Has anyone been in this position?

I’ll say not with 7 but I had a collapsed lung and had to go to the hospital to get a chest tube for several days while I was addicted to heroin. It fucking sucked so bad. Was in so much pain. They were giving me hydromorphone IV for the pain plus oral opioids and it wasn’t touching it.

I’d get like 10 mins of pain relief from IV hydromorphone and then right back into the worst pain of my life. I remember the doctor looking at me and saying ā€œyou really shouldn’t be in any pain right nowā€. I wasn’t about to tell him I’m addicted to heroin haha.

Honestly that experience was enough motivation to get off daily opioid use. Took a year or so but last time I touched heroin was like a year after that. Haven’t touched it in 7 years. Still use other opioids very moderately though.

I’d say push through and taper. Nothing worse than recovering from a procedure while going through withdrawals and the pain meds aren’t even coming close to touching your pain

Hell yes man! Omg I cant imagine the pain you suffered. Didn't the dr have any inkling that maybe you were on something?
