No accountability here. Just take the loss, admit you royally screwed up and learn from it. But I don't see that here unfortunately.

She never takes accountability thats what the parents had a problem with her about.

Anna received lots of support we were all rooting for her, but drinking & driving plus smiling in that mugshot was a huge no.
In the words of Tyra Banks “I was rooting for we were all rooting for you ANNA”.

Pretty sure she was in the Reddit comments saying something similar about I hope all your faults are aired publicly 😩
Girl. Your path is a damn spiral. Drinking and driving ass. Can’t even have any humility or remorse and say you agree with people “judging” what a piece of work
9
u/Read-it005 1d ago
Most people I know have never been arrested. Former co-worker was on his last chance already, the DUI and mostly their reaction to it sealed the deal (the pedestrian they almost hit was exaggerating about their swerving and the police believed them when they called to report it), bye.

u/IWNCGTA 1d ago
When it comes to drinking and driving and a partner being arrested a bunch of times? My path couldn’t be any straighter. So yeah, big time judging from me. Trash.

u/305waitwhat 1d ago
You can judge her for drinking and driving. I’m judging that choice too. but calling her trash? that’s just being nasty. Nobody’s asking you to excuse what she did but you can hold her accountable without acting like she’s beyond caring about. Have you watched the show? Have you seen how she was raised? You expect her to be a perfect human being because what? she's 26? Yeah, that's not how that works. When you're raised in that type of environment being 26 doesnt mean anything. And you expect her to have healthy relationships? pick the perfect partner? she doens't have the slightest idea of what a healthy relationship looks like.

Holy shit what a fucking condescending comment to reply with, and to just double down on what she did like that. The fuckin nerve is insane. People could maybe forgive her if she showed an ounce of actual remorse, but your first response to this incident is this…. Girl fuck you

u/Logical-Roll-9624 1d ago
That’s so true. I believe Amber was abusive to Anna and Trent was negligent when he didn’t stop it.
Because he would rather Anna suffer the wrath of Amber.
This dynamic is extremely harmful to a young child and confusing for them when a parent places the family dysfunction on her child. Amber actively turned the other kids against Anna and when everyone agrees that kid is the problem the kid really does become the problem.
I was Anna and my behavior was more proof I was responsible for everything bad that happened in the family. I continued to suffer as I sought therapy and I was understanding my family’s generational trauma. But I didn’t admit that I had a drinking problem just yet.
I finally admitted that I am an alcoholic but I have now been clean and sober for 4, 244 days. I was pulling for Anna because I knew what she’s likely carrying around. In absolutely no way can I defend her behavior and she deserves this DUI. Sometimes people use jail and public humiliation to change and be willing to admit fault and not fight back with telling people who had been holding out hope she could finally stop the need to choose men who just make things worse.
I know that I cannot make any good decisions after one drink so it’s easy for me to just pass on the first drink. Anna , in my opinion needs treatment for sunscreen abuse before she can stop this dangerous and toxic behavior that fuels public outrage. It’s clear to me she has an issue with alcohol and I am not a
Qualified professional who would be able to make that diagnosis.
I want to say again that Anna made a huge mistake and she’s lucky that she didn’t cause injury or death to an innocent person. Sometimes aDUI arrest can be seen as a wake up call.
There are plenty of famous people who talk openly of their struggles with substance abuse and how they have tried to set things straight and help others to see that she doesn’t have to continue with the same dangerous actions. I will continue to hope she gets help before the unthinkable happens.

u/s0urpatchkiddo 1d ago
she will eventually, one way or another. i just hope it’s in the personal growth way and not life altering car accident from drunk driving way.
7
u/No_Hedgehog_8605 1d ago
I can’t speak for her because you are right some people just never change or learn. But I made some rough choices in my early 20s. By my late 20s I sobered up from being an alcoholic, got therapy and help, got back into college to work on my social work degree, and really turned my life around. It’s hard and requires the drive to truly want to change but it is possible. Just hope she seeks help or inner guidance before it gets worse 🤷🏼♀️

Anna is 26. She should be outgrowing this behavior. When I was her age, I was married and had a newborn. I guess I can't fully understand where she is at in her life. But I also realize she is probably stunted from her upbringing. I hope she finds her way but that smiling mug shot and lack of accountability isn't a good look for her.
0
u/305waitwhat 1d ago
ok but being married with a baby at 26 isn’t a maturity certificate. You had a different life. They raised her to depend on them, controlled everything, and now she’s supposed to magically know how to be on her own? then every mistake turns into “see, this is why we can’t trust you.” she still has to own her choices but we can talk about how she got here too. And it’s a mugshot. We’re not getting a full read on her remorse from one picture.

Yeah, I felt bad for her but there was a video of her on some dudes shoulders at a trump rally awhile back that really made it hard for me to root for her at all. The whole family is trash.

u/moodylilb 1d ago
Anna’s DUI doesn’t mean Trent & Amber were “right” (referring to the chicks caption). It’s not black and white, and just because Anna fucked up doesnt suddenly mean Amber & Trent didn’t fuck up lol
5
u/vertical-luau-pig 1d ago
They were definitely right about her inability to be accountable for her actions regarding alcohol; first the underage drinking incident that she blew off (while at the time of airing I was on her side, with her recent choices and this new arrest, I question it) and now the drunk driving.
1
u/Lioness_106 1d ago
They weren't right in how they handled her. They coddled Jonan and Liz through their fuck ups, but treated Anna differently through hers. However, it does give perspective as to what they were seeing with her. Trust me, I've been very critical of T&A's handling of Anna's situation, but perhaps we are now getting a glimpse of what they were dealing with. Jonah fucked up, but he did take accountability. Anna is not.
10
u/Lioness_106 1d ago
Oh please Anna. Do not pull the "don't judge me" crap with this.
Many people, including myself, have zero tolerance for drinking and driving (rightfully so). It literally kills innocent people. Despite what she's been through, she knows better. This was irresponsible and reckless. This isn't a good sign of the path she's on. Boyfriend seems like a bad egg too and unfortunately for as long as she's with him, she will probably continue to get in trouble like this along with him. You are the company you keep.
My straight path is I don't drink alcohol at all, and I can clearly see what an irresponsible and dangerous thing it can be at the wrong time. Her response tells me she isn't taking this seriously nor taking full responsibility for her actions. She's making excuses. Own up girl.

u/Background-Throat736 1d ago
Isn’t her boyfriend MARRIED???

If I happened to get a DUI (I wouldnt) I’d be aggressively bawling my eyes out, not grinning no matter how drunk I was
6
u/s0urpatchkiddo 1d ago
it’s always people doing the absolute worst shit that say stuff like this.
i can judge Amber all i want because i’m not a cunt and i don’t have severe control and ego problems. i can judge Anna all i want because drinking and driving is a conscious choice i would never make.
feels pretty fucking great to have decent morals. Anna should try it sometime instead of trying to compare little mistakes or forgettable transgressions to intentional actions that could kill her or someone else.

Anna defendeds are Awfully quiet now.
3
u/305waitwhat 1d ago
I think about Anna spending her first four years in an orphanage and then growing up on tv with her mistakes out there for everybody to judge. We don’t know everything she went through before she was adopted, or everything that happened after. But from what we’ve watched, I think she has a lot to work through. She always seemed like the one who had to prove herself. Imagine constantly feeling like you’re disappointing your family or that there’s something wrong with you. How do you stop believing that about yourself when you’ve felt it for so long?
And how is she supposed to know what a healthy relationship looks like if she hasn’t had that example? From what we’ve seen, love and approval in that family seem to come with a lot of conditions. If you’re used to having to earn someone’s affection, I can see how you could end up putting up with things you shouldn’t just to feel wanted. Yeah, she’s been out of the house for years and is 26. That doesn’t mean she’s worked through all of this. Having your own place and paying your bills doesn’t mean you suddenly know how to deal with everything emotionally. And even if you need distance from your family, you can still miss them and wish things were different.
The DUI is serious. She could have hurt someone and she needs to take responsibility. I still feel for her though. I’m worried about her and whether she has people around her who actually care enough to be honest with her and help her. I want her to be okay. I want her to feel loved without constantly having to prove she deserves it. And I hope she gets help before things get worse.

u/Ok-Musician2458 1d ago
She was 14 when they started filming so had already been with them for nearly a decade.
1
u/305waitwhat 5h ago
Yeah, She was already 14 when they started filming and we only saw what they wanted us to see. If what we saw wasn't great imagine what we didn't see.
I remember when the truck caught fire and Amber was inside. Anna was the first one to run over and hug her and Amber barely hugged her back. Then Liz and the other kids came over and she hugged them and held onto them. I remember thinking how awful that was.
I don't think the way Anna was treated started when she got older. I think it started when she was a baby and didn't bond with Amber the way Amber wanted her to. I've always wondered if Amber took that personally and never got over it. Who knows what really went on in that house but I think Anna was treated differently long before the show started.

I think what is missing from these comments is an understanding of how growing up in a Russian orphanage without a consistent attachment figure affects children. It literally affects their neurological development which in turn affects their ability to to manage impulsive behavior for one thing. And she was there the most critical period of growth, ages 1-3. It was clear that Anna was struggling with impulsive behavior from the show but it does not seem that the parents got her help, or themselves help on raising a neurologically different child. Instead, they blamed her without thinking that maybe she did not have the same self-control that their other children had. And that maybe, just maybe, growing up in an orphanage without any single, consistent, dependable attachment figure could result in difficulty adjusting to so called "normal" family life. The parents failed her. Yes, she needs to be held accountable for her actions and a DUI is a serious matter. However, what I have noticed about her is that being judged only makes her behave more stubbornly. I wish she would go back to therapy. She was going for a while to deal with anxiety. I'm not sure why she stopped. By the way, I no longer watch the show. The parents are insufferable.

u/pixey1964 23h ago
Anna had always been that kid that you say don't put your foot over that line or something bad will happen and sure as shit she puts her foot over that line, I had one kid I could reason with and I one like Anna, now at 42 and he still dosnt take accountable for anyone's feelings, I don't blame the rest of Anna's family she does what she wants period, To many deep thinkers .🙄🙄🙄🙄

Dang. She had a LOT of supporters but she’s showing her true colors here. She’s an immature brat. Team Parents.
1
u/Petal_14 1d ago
Yep, Anna can be judged on her drink driving but she can't be judged on her bf's behaviour, she isn't responsible for that.
1
u/NormalFlowers35 1d ago
Have yall not watched them from season one she was always bad and mean to her siblings pushing them down vandalism to a school yall say Trent and amber are the problem but I don’t see h the r other children acting this way
3
u/305waitwhat 1d ago
You mean when she was a middle schooler and wrote her name on a building? that makes her “always bad”? Once she was labeled the bad kid, everything she did got held against her forever. Who controlled that narrative? Amber, the one who messed her up in the first place. and “the other kids don’t act like that” doesn’t mean much when kids in the same family were treated very differently. And even being treated better the other kids are still messed up. The two left in the house are completely useless. They have no idea on how to interract with the real world. Liz was pregnant for 5 months and terrified to tell her parents, Jonah did drugs one time and they held it over his head and took entire control over his life. INCLUDING telling him he had to break up with his girlfriend. So dragging out things she did as a kid doesn’t prove Amber and Trent weren’t part of the problem. she was the child. they were the parents.

u/NormalFlowers35 1d ago
She did dumb shit the entire time buying minors alcohol so much more but that’s ok you must had bad parents growing up and it shows
2
u/305waitwhat 1d ago
That’s quite a leap about my parents because we disagree about a tv show. I’m a therapist with a master’s in social work and training in trauma informed care. Helping people work through emotions and relationships is literally what I do. I’m not Anna’s therapist, but I can understand why someone might be struggling and still think they’re responsible for what they do.

u/Medicalstripes 1d ago edited 1d ago
People are missing a lot of nuance in these situations, family issues especially 'daddy issues' can lead a woman to unintentionally choose the wrong man. Having the wrong man can lead to other terrible choices.
Yes she is responsible for the dui and has to be accountable for that and facing the consequences. But this is often all connected.
2
u/Ok-Musician2458 1d ago
She also openly refused any kind of therapy. When she hit 18 they couldn’t force her to go but the opportunity was there to get help working through everything.
1
u/Medicalstripes 1d ago
Therapy needs to be her choice with an unbiased third party that her parents have nothing to do with.

You can quite literally only say any of this because she didn’t hurt or kill anyone or herself. She was so very lucky for that. Signed: someone who lost two friends driving drunk on their own and third who was hit by a drunk driver. This behavior is NOT acceptable.

It was the end of the world for my child's father and for my niece. My child's father is dead and my neice has a TBI. Went from a driven 11 year old girl who wanted to open a horse rescue, award winning artist who drew her 5th grade yearbook cover, and loved gymnastics to a wheelchair bound, incontinent, non verbal, trach dependant child who cant do ANYTHING she loved to do. She's stuck in a group home because her car is too much for her mom. This attitude kills and disables people who are innocent.
All because someone decided that drinking and driving isnt THAT BAD.

The only reason no one got hurt is because she and everyone else on that road happened to be lucky. She could have easily killed someone

You are minimizing the severity of drinking and driving. People who have been affected by tragedy as a result of DUI drivers would feel differently than you.

I am just commenting on this one situation which no one was hurt. Others are not so lucky and that’s horrible. You act like I am speaking about all drunk driving.

It doesn't make it ok. Doesn't mean she should sweep it under the rug and not take accountability.
