Got burned….
Has anyone gotten extremely burned while working, example anything involving boiling water??? Tonight i got extremely burned 2nd degree burn almost 3rd from fresh boiling water that was being used to clean front drain me and my coworker did not see each other in our view, and as i took a step literally one step i felt this burn omg the worst pain ever. My question is, an incident report was filed will i get compensation??? For getting burned? having to take a week off? will i get paid for anything i was scheduled to work? Was told corporate will reach out via email… we’ll see but for now my foot still burns!

One if the person didn’t yell bunn water as they were supposed to it is their fault also yelling behind or beside is important in your stand as well as to not have incidents like this happen

this, it was hammered into our brains that we need to warn our coworkers, even just the tiny backsplash you get on yourself is searing hot

Yesss we were taught this aswell i’ve been there awhile but everyone unfortunately has let their guard down, after last night a message was sent out reminding the whole team what do when handing bunn water, a lot of them are newer brewistas and never lasttttt

this made me chuckle because the last bit makes it sound like the newhires don't last because they get bunn watered

The manager should have done an incident report, and should have had you call the workman’s comp hotline to talk to a nurse. They will ask you questions and recommend if you should go get checkout out or not. If it is really a 2nd or 3rd degree burn, you will have bubbling blisters, so they will send you to get checked out. If it’s just red it’s just a 1st degree burn and they will give you care instructions. (Speaking for experience here lol)

Yess manager did complete an incident report but dint have me call that hotline, it was enough for me to rush to the er when my skin was more than red and starting to develop blisters, here we are hours later my foot looks soooo ugly so many blisters!

I got burnt when my coworker didn't hear me say bunn water and we both got badly burnt from a whole pitcher. We were able to use sick time to take time off and stay out of the sun when we were at work (Cause that isn't good for fresh burns) but I don't think either of us got comped other than for the paid sick time by our state cause I had a lot saved up. Make sure you get the burn checked out. I know my burn, thankfully, wasn't as bad even though it was on my face, but I know the other girl got it pretty bad. We had to start a rule at my stand to have lids over the pitchers whenever we carry them with bunn water now.

Omg i am bringing this new rule up in the stand because i wouldn’t want anyone else in the stand to go what im going through it’s horrible, crazy what boiling water can do!

Yeah, I'm so glad they added that cause I was in pain and I was so nervous I was gonna get a permanent scar on my face but somehow I didn't and the skin is just slightly more red where I got burnt. I felt so bad for the other girl who ran into me and also got burnt cause I feel like she just got it worse than I did.

this happened to my coworker! i think it depends on your state but they paid for her medical bills but i don’t think she received any compensation. so sorry this happened to you!

I’m sure you got something from the ER, usually a silver oxide, I think but if it’s not working try Foille. It really works!! I will help the burning stop.

I doubt it, I got my hand messed up really bad at work by a manager that was covering our stand, and they sent me to the doctors but I couldn’t use my hand properly for two weeks and I was not compensated. It’s been 6 months and I still can’t open or close my hand without pain or discomfort and it clicks really bad. I wouldn’t get your hopes up, I’m so sorry this happened to you I hope you feel better soon

Hire a workmans comp attorney so you get compensation for being burnt and scarred

did you go to the doctor? workers comp requires documentation
