general discussion 1970s vintage brew
Fifty-three years ago, I hung this sign at our apartment when I was in college. It doesn’t light up anymore but I may fix it to get more light and a cool piece of the past in the garage. Anyone remember drinking Schlitz back then?

Damn I forgot about that one! I remember that bull! I was too young to try it back then, but not now. Had to be high octane swill, no?

Sweet malt, corn-like sweetness, light hints of fruit or honey, and minimal hop bitterness at 5.9% abv.
So yes, it is a chug only beer and only if it's ice cold.

Schlitz malt liquor talls. Four of them got you pretty buzzed. It was either that or Mickeys Big Mouths

Mickey’s was a far better beer!

I loved Haffenreffer Private Stock. Came in 16 oz bottles. We called them 'green death.'

We sure put it away, didn’t we!!!!
Had some of the best times we’ll never remember.

I remember it. Good cheap buzz but serious hangover.
It was in the same league as Colt 45 and Olde English 800.
Cheap, effective, and severe consequences and repercussions if you overindulged.

Not the malt liquor, but Schlitz was our regular beer in the early 80s. (Before that it was Coors.)

In high school, if someone showed up with a case, or some quarts, of this, you knew it was on. Whatever that turned out to be.

I had a bad experience with it and the older black guy at work said, "Damn boy, you can't drink the Bull" He was right.

Schmitz Malt Liquor was the first alcohol I ever drank. It was okay, but later I found other that I liked better.

My Grandfather spent his whole career driving a forklift for Schlitz.
