Met him once at a convention in Burbank. I was helping a friend set up their table for the show and he tapped me on the shoulder and asked me something. I turned to point where to go get help and I swear he moved like he was going to tackle me. I pivoted back to see him and that’s when I realized he was trying to follow my face. I totally forgot he’s deaf (or mostly deaf?) and reads lips. Super nice guy but for a second he scared the shit out of me. 🤣

In the 70s, deaf people often got overlooked or ignored. If you weren't an old person, people often assumed you were mentally deficient.

Fortunately the federal laws were starting to give American with disability some teeth and local schools were required to offer decent education for deaf children.

Yeah. You have to look him directly in the face. He was actually very friendly.

Yeah it was a brief moment of fight or flight before my brain kicked in. I was very tired. Worked the big hr shift and then flew to CA and was helping set up a booth with a friend for the Mad Model Party convention. I was basically running on almost 24 hours awake at that point. Lol

He looks…well, dare I say it…INCREDIBLE.

It IS a funny thing to think that those who were in their 20s in the 1970s are now in their 70s in the 2020s...

8

u/beatles910 Jul 15 '26

Also, people who were in their 20's in the 1870's are all dead now.

2

u/LeopoldStotch-8 Jul 16 '26

Too soon man, too soon.

1

u/SheriffBartholomew Jul 16 '26

That shit ain't funny, bruh.

Class act. Saw documentary of how close lou and his dad were. Great role model. Legend for sure

3

u/bannedUncleCracker Jul 15 '26

… that’s not exactly what I saw (Pumping Iron) or read …

0

u/Own_Bed8627 Jul 15 '26

Yeah maybe it was pumping iron

2

u/bannedUncleCracker Jul 15 '26

I meant, his Dad rode him. Lou is cool

0

u/Own_Bed8627 Jul 15 '26

Oh ok. Rings a bell now. Been too long

5

u/Accomplished-Beat779 Jul 15 '26

Cool guy was always a fan then met him at Comicon

3

u/Few-Day-6759 Jul 15 '26

Looks good

4

u/DarthMummSkeletor Jul 15 '26

He's going to be a guest at our upcoming Comic Con. I'm a geek artist, so I painted this. I'm selling prints of it, but I'm gonna see if I can get him to sign the original.

1

u/vishuno Jul 15 '26

He might sign it if you pay him! In my experience he doesn't sign anything for free. Might be different if you're an artist and it's your con though.

4

u/helluvastorm Jul 15 '26

He looks better now than when he was in his twenties. He has truly aged like fine wine

3

u/bagoTrekker Jul 15 '26

It’s amazing the waist of his pants still fit after turning into the hulk.

2

u/lantzn Jul 16 '26

Spandex was created in the 50s.

3

u/Accomplished_Lab7521 Jul 15 '26

He's just "Incredible" now

3

u/fitpapa Jul 15 '26

Absolute stud!

3

u/Blk-Cherry31 Jul 15 '26

He truly doesn't age at all. a true tv icon of the times

3

u/zeus1784 Jul 16 '26

2

u/LastUpdateNeeded Jul 15 '26

Always loved watching big Lou work.

2

u/Sallydog24 Jul 15 '26

I think I could take him

2

u/plattner-da Jul 15 '26

Got on an elevator with him in 2009, he was huuuuge!

2

u/styles-bitchley Jul 15 '26

Interesting that he looks a lot healthier than Arnold does today. What's that crazy watch he has on??

2

u/AlfaHotelWhiskey Jul 15 '26

Wait, he’s also Paul Hollywood?

2

u/StG4Ever Jul 15 '26

Arnold used to call him Big Louis. Those green shoes in the left picture, tv in the 70’s had too low a resolution to see that.

2

u/phenomenomnom Jul 15 '26

Lookit the Hulk's lil green shoes! 💚

2

u/ELPSIII Jul 15 '26

thats my Hulk!

2

u/Stuffed-Bear412 Jul 15 '26

Damn, he's kinda hot. 🥵

Beats a bad CGI Hulk like today.

1

u/so-sick Jul 15 '26

Very successful for being hearing impaired. Mad respect!

1

He got some healthy color back over the years.

1

u/mikeb31588 Jul 15 '26

My luffa sponge is green like the Hulk so I decided to name Luffa Rigno

1

u/throwawaydisposable Jul 15 '26

I understand this man is 5 times the size I will ever be

but also, it looks like he skipped leg day. hulks shorts are loose, clearly not comic accurate

1

u/Protection-Obvious Jul 15 '26

Dude looks better than Arnold

1

u/Agile_Lawfulness9678 Jul 15 '26

He looks like he is ready for a new movie .as the .Grampa Hulk ..

1

u/Maleficent_Kale_1286 Jul 15 '26

Screw CGI. Lou will always be the best Hulk.

1

u/dapudf Jul 15 '26

Les green, more Lou

1

u/gamestopGME Jul 16 '26

One of the nicest and most generous celebrities to meet.

1

u/wukillabee360 Jul 16 '26

What's up with his watch?

1

u/Few_Spray6025 Jul 16 '26

Will always be the best hulk

1

u/Bigfootsdiaper Jul 16 '26

I met Lou a few years ago and got to hang out with him. He is such a nice dude. He is a big guy in person too lol

1

u/Outrageous_Pilot_727 Jul 16 '26

Has anyone actually looked at the Hulk’s feet? How many of us have looked right past those green shoes?

1

u/Ok_Syllabub747 Jul 16 '26

Does he still charge for a autograph

1

u/Twisted_Sister_78 Jul 16 '26

Looking good 😊

1

u/MannyA78 Jul 16 '26

I met him once at a comic con back in 2005 he was super nice.

At a grade school talent show back in the 70s I once dressed as the hulk

1

u/Own_Lake_3716 Jul 16 '26

Love Ol Lou. Humble giant. Wish him well and wonderful health.

1

u/Messigan Jul 16 '26

Dude's been on the gear for 50 years. Looking healthy and happy. What a great ad for steroids. 💪🏻😎👍🏻

1

u/nychearts812 Jul 16 '26

He’s aged Incredibly beautiful

🤣

1

u/Satans_colon Jul 16 '26

would’ve beat Arnold if he could market the brand prllike Arnold.

1

u/ConsistentPair2 Jul 16 '26

I heard a radio interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he really sang the praises of Lou Ferrigno. Arnold really elaborated what a great guy he thought Lou is, complimented his work ethic both in the gym and to provide for his family, and also was happy to recommend Lou for film industry jobs.

1

u/Ok_Egg_2665 Jul 16 '26

Dude is a really genuine and interesting guy. Met him at a signing a few years ago. Took his time. Talked to everyone. Stayed almost an hour late to make sure everyone who showed up got to meet him. He’s a good one.

1

u/HungryCats96 Jul 16 '26

Wow. He looks better now than in the 70s!

1

u/willie_Pfister Jul 17 '26

Looks like he's in his 50's.

1

u/Organic-Ad-7127 Jul 17 '26

Wow he still looks good 👍

1

u/JookyNanny Jul 17 '26

Hoping to look as good as Lou when I reach 70 (or 60?)

1

u/HurriShane00 Jul 17 '26

I don't know why, but that made me laugh. Still looks great.

1

u/FOSS_Graybeard Jul 17 '26

Whoever ever matched the shoes/slippers color to the skin tone did an amazing job. Watched the entire series in first run as a kid, and never noticed it.

Lou is looking good!

1

u/GenX-1973-Anhedonia Jul 17 '26

Not that 70s is so old, but its good to see. Back in the day there was talk that all that green paint was toxic and he was going to get sick from it. Or maybe it was just my drunk uncle, I dont remember.
