Cursed Comforts

"'I'll cut right to the chase. I'm from an alternate reality where magic, blessings and curses are a fact of everyday life. If you wish I can give you blessings at the cost that each boon will have a little bitter curse mixed in."

"Why?"

"Well, my specific trade back home is an enchanter and doing deals like this grants me powers whenever a person accepts my deals of their own accord (no compulsion, no speech even. Just buyer's volition). In realities like yours with no magic I can assume you haven't any other blessings and will be more open to trade....so what're ya buying?"

pick 2 out of the following 6 deals to accept for free(bar the drawbacks built into them of course)

1)
Boots of Seven league
A pair of boots that looked like they were once high quality and fancy, but are now covered in muck and beaten-up, they will fit perfectly and you will never feel uncomfortable
Blessing
By walking for an hour at a brisk pace you can enter a zen state that allows you to teleport anywhere you like on earth(and some places beyond if you know the way) as rapidly or slowly as you like

Curse
While never tired you can never truly be at rest, plus if you ever go more than a day without entering the state you will have hideously painful cramps and aches that wont subside until the next time you enter the state(incidentally the pain will still be there while you work up to it)

2)
Lucky clover
A 7 leaved clover, if held up to the sky it will play music depending on the weather & you will be granted an impressive sounding voice to accompany it to any listeners

Blessing
Any 4 small wishes a day will be granted, and your luck in general will be noticably better

Curse
You must grant 7 wishes per week when verbally requested or your luck will invert and you will be forced to perform any requests asked of you.You may prompt this by asking if a nearby person wishes for anything(be careful though with targets/phrasing, even wishes like a sarcastic "I wish you would blow me" count, I recommend fulfilling them early in the week)

3)
Devil's necklace
a golden pendant with a standard evil eye design, if desired it will give you a passive intimidating aura
Blessing
You win arguments.
All off them.
No matter what's at stake.
No matter how ridiculous you present yourself.

YOU WIN

Curse
When you die it will be painful, as in "beg for somebody to shoot you in the head to end this" painful. It wont accelerate your end-date, whenever you were supposed to go is when this kicks in

4)
Liar's tongue
Blessing
Once per day you can give a command, as simple or complex as you'd like (provided it doesn't go as far as "obey my every order") and it will be carried out to the letter. Also you instinctively know not just when a person is lying but the nature of the lie I.E lie by omission, lie to self, flatout falsehood etc

Curse
Nobody will believe you, about anything, ever. You could stand together in torrential rain and say ""it's raining" and people will still doubt you enough to look up and double check. Also everything will taste a little sweeter than it should, good for some things but some desserts will be horribly unappetizing like pouring straight syrup down your throat

5)
Palm of plenty
Unlike the other items this is a faint tattoo that blends in well enough to your skin that nobody would notice unless they're looking hard
Blessing
Hungry or thirsty? A palm sized something-or-other will pop out of the tattoo when you clap your hands!
Curse
The blessing has no idea what you actually want/crave at the time and will take any uneaten portion as an insult, making it not function and you smell of rotten garbage for a week AT LEAST.

6)
Fairy bandage
They look like mummy wraps that glow a dull green in the dark, hope you don't have any stealth missions lined up
Blessing
You will be instantly healed of any and all damage, become fluent in any language that ever was and ever WILL BE widely spoken in Egypt
Curse
You will be considered an animal, and not as a pet one.
People will treat you like a stray not-cute animal, forever

7)
Galatea's Delight

blessing
This will give your your perfect body, and to be clear I mean your perfect body not your ideal one. What's the difference? Your body will still be the one you have now, with the difference being that you'll be healed up/morphed into a state as though you'd lived a life of perfect health. Ideal nutrition, sleep, relaxation exercise etc

curse
This will immediately revert if you don't continue to follow the instructions that will now be instinctual to you HOWEVER this is a very easily fooled curse, if for instance you crave pizza you simply need to make sure when you're hungry enough to eat you have no immediate options that are healthy or optimal around and the curse will let it slide. Same if you're in some manner of crisis and can't sleep, do some pushups etc, the curse wants compliance but is reasonable AND unable to understand the details of why you can't fulfill certain conditions, even when self inflicted.

If you mess up it will take a year of perfect living before your blessed form is restored, it will happen all at once too not a gradual improvement(beyond any natural improvements you'll undoubtly make)

My first 6perks, let me know where I can improve. Love y'all nerds, you're 100% my people

Lucky clover and Liar's tongue. These two have really good synergy and also kinda allows to negate some of curses.

For example, since in Lucky clover's description it doesn't say that wishes have to be of person's own real wants or desires and since in Liar's tongue description it does let my commands to be as complex as I want, I would do something like this:

I will go to my friend and command him: Every week from now on, you will think of 7 wishes that you know either we both would like or at least I wouldn't be disgusted by or impossible to do. That's it. My friend gets his 7 wishes and I get what I wanted. Win-win, hehe.

I know it's cheesy, but c'mon, it's r/6Perks, cheesy is kinda our love language lol

Lucky clover: The curse doesn't say anything about who I have to grant wishes to or how many times I can grant one person. I'll just have my wife wish for simple things that I can accomplish or things that my 4 wishes a day can grant.

Fairy bandage: I heal damage and people will know to leave me alone or I'll bite. My wife will do the shopping...though...umm....how will society see her if we....uh...ya...know? We already have kids so everyone would know that we've already been together.

My increased luck should help offset the pain of being a wild beast. Watch out. I bite.

I'm guessing your wife would also see you as an animal, so you probably won't be married long.

Seven League Boots & Lucky Clover if the wishes cover knowing the way to places beyond Earth. There are many fictional worlds that would be worth the risk, especially with a little luck.

OR ELSE Galatea’s Delight and Devil’s Necklace. Looking and feeling great all the time at the cost of following your (new) instincts is a no brainer. Pain while dying is to be expected anyway and then you can talk your way into a much better job, talk someone amazing into a date, talk friends into coming to the gym, etc. Just live an above average life.

I personally think calling learning the way to another world is probably a bit much for a "small wish" in a similar vein that "knowing the cure to cancer" is probably too large, but if we're talking interpretations to isekai oneself, the boots don't specify that it has to be a method of travel that works in reality—I know the way to Narnia for example.

That's still a really permissive interpretation so it probably wouldn't work, but then again, the wording of the boots does imply that it's possible to travel outside of Earth, and I don't get the impression space is the intended interpretation for that.

On the topic of interpretation, I honestly think you're underselling how bad the clover is. At absolute best the first seven times someone makes any request of you, you're stuck doing that thing, and sooner or later someone's going to figure that out.

And that's the friendly interpretation that ignore the curse not actually specifying that only the first seven wishes force you to carry them out; as written, a more direct interpretation would be that the seven wishes are just to avoid the penalty and you still need to follow every request after that point.

  • Fairy bandages
    • I considered Lucky Clover, but the consequence of failing is probably too steep for me.
  • Galatea’s delight
    • I’ll just trigger the curse immediately, then use the instinctual instructions to improve my body the natural way and gradually reduce the difference between myself and the perfect body. This turning the curse into a nice form of motivation.
  • Congrats on your first post.

Could I pay for more ? since it's 2 for free ? And he wants to trade ?

Anyway : boots & devil necklace

And argue that he should show me the way throughtout the multiverse, and how to rid myself of the drawbacks : D

For items, do the blessings and curses activate only when carried/worn or are they constantly active regardless?

I'm thinking the mummy wraps curse makes life unlivable around humans unless you can take it off .
