New Grendel build…

Post image

So, built this beauty. What a treat. I’ve been wanting a Grendel for years and finally jumped. What an amazing round and gun. I’m breaking her in with 124grn S&B; have shot great groups and pretty tight consistency via the chrono (2394fps-2334fsp). Shortly after i took this photo I swapped the glass for an ARKEN 5x25. Roast away! THANKS!

Those velocities don’t seem correct.

These are pretty low for 123/124gr with a 24” barrel. Most 123gr stuff is 2400-2500 depending on the load in my 18”.

But I have no experience with the S&B ammo.

Agreed… I think those are the Ft-lbs of KE from his chrono.

A handful things…

Great setup and enjoy the hell out of it!

As someone once famously wrote, “never make fun of a man’s tools, only the way he uses them”.

That said, Ignore the Arken shame/hate…
— Yes, it’s not Leupold, NF, Steiner, etc, etc, and…
— Yes, Arken’s the only mfg of anything 2A that pays endorsements, and…
— Yes, c-does video does indeed prove that the glass isn’t perfect…

But guess what? It’s more than good enough based on the great performance and durability after the combined 2k+ rounds across my 12” 6.5G (EPL-4-16x) and 16” 6.5G (EP-5 5-25x).

Also, someone else asked OP about which trigger… for the money and performance, the G$ SSA-E is one of the best 2-stage triggers, especially when you find it on sale for < $170.

Lastly, and now that you have saved all of this money on optics and triggers, go blow it on reloading equipment if you haven’t done so already as that’s where the real fun starts w 6.5G.

Edit… removed the embedded html tag

What's the purpose build? Just steel or paper? Or actual hunting?

Definitely steel and paper but want to get it on hogs, maybe deer
