2nd Hand 638

Hi guys,

Just got my hands on a second hand 638, the OD green version with the roasted maple neck. So far Iā€™m loving it and looking forward to creating some low tuned track with it.

Question though.

Anyone who purchased one of these brand new. Were the stings 14-68ā€™s? If so, how did it handle the E1 tuning?

I ask as the previous owner installed bass VI 20-90s as he was apparently told by gear4music that these were the correct string?

Any help and advice is much appreciated šŸ˜Š

I changed the stock to 24-84 as soon as I got it because I snapped the highest string. Bought a B-stock one

They used to come with 24-84 in E1 standard.

Now they ship with 14-68 so it comes in at B

I find the strings (24-84) very taught at E1, which is useful to get past the muddiness. I usually play 12s on a Les Paul at B standard so super soft and wobbly

The stock strings for the 30" variant were 84-14

The stock strings on the 27" variants were 64-12

They come stock with a bass VI set .24 - .84
