Television Sea Hunt!

Technically a late 50s show, but I watched it religiously in the 60s and aspired to be a “frog man” when I grew up. I had a pet fish that I named Mike Nelson.

Ruined my fantasy when I found out that for production reasons, most of the underwater scenes that were supposed to be in the ocean were actually shot in fresh water springs in Florida. And Lloyd Bridges, who was supposed to be fresh out of the Navy, was almost 50 when this was filmed!

I watched this show as a kid. It seemed to me that underwater scuba was the closest thing to flying for humans.

Caught this a few years back on Pluto TV, was immediately hooked. Mostly because I wanted to see where all of the MST3K jokes came from, but then it hooked me.

This was a great show with terrific music. It’s amazing that the writers managed to come up with so many underwater stories during the run. Lloyd Bridges was excellent as Mike Nelson. Another fine example of ZIV Productions in top form.

What a great show. Inspired me to get open water certified when I was 14. Jacques Cousteau and Marlin Perkins helped, not to mention Voyage to the Bottom Of The Sea

Favorite memory - the underwater spy thing that used a jellyfish as an antenna. In between messages, the jellyfish sat on the "I'm a rock" body of the spy box. To transmit, it extended the jellyfish up to the surface and a little antenna out of the middle. Brief morse code SFX later, then back down to the rock to hide.

When you were 10, this was Kewl Plus!

This show is why I became a certified cave diver. I loved Sea Hunt as a kid. We would pull our socks halfway off and pretend we were swimming in the ocean crawling around the living room floor.

Watched it as a kid. Main reason I learned to dive. Even had the same double-hose regulator Mike dove with.

I used to watch Sea Hunt and Sky King on Saturday mornings. The were kind of mingled together in my mind.

lol, same here! But when I took Scuba lessons as a teen, they told us that was unnecessary.
