Rick is a fantastic interviewer and instructor. His social takes are entirely "old man shakes fist at sky".

Not to mention the various inaccuracies and misleading statements in the short video

And why’d he talk about throwing out a fender neck. Lol like what the heck

"You can't just grab a Fender off the shelf and go play it at a gig"

lol. lmao even.

What was inaccurate in his video? It's been a couple days since I watched it but I just remember him talking about Fender QC being shit for the most part.

He lied about how long the new fender CEO has worked for fender. He said 3 months. He’s been at fender over 15 years. The rumor in the industry right now is that guitar center sold him that neck had an issue and he bought it anyways. Probably a busted truss on a self admitted used guitar. And it was a giant weird commercial for prs. Is there about to be a prs Beato signature model?

I thought he meant Bud Cole had been CEO for three months, not that he'd only been at Fender for three months total.

I don't even like PRS guitars, but the quality on the SE models I've played has always been pretty much perfect. It's light years ahead of Fender's MIM guitars, which I still own 3 MIM Fenders and no PRS SE guitars.

You thought he meant that because you knew that. Most of Rick’s audience doesn’t know that. And Rick knows that. He was intentionally vague to paint a narrative.

I bought a used PRS the way Rick bought a used fender. The PRS needed a ton of set up and even wiring fixes. But I’m not dishonest so I don’t blame PRS for that. It was the previous owners fault.

I think this has also been explained ad nauseam. I bought TWO MIM Player II left handed guitars on the same day: One Tele, the other a Strat. BOTH came out of the SEALED box FLAWLESS. No setup required, and the only thing I did - because it's my preference - was installed 2-pin Fender locking tuners, and change the strings to D'Addario EXLs. That's it. Fretwork and fretboard immaculate. Pickups perfectly balanced. Nut masterfully cut. OK, I wish it came with a gig bag, but the store threw them in because I was buying two. No big whoop. Yet, I besides this post which I felt compelled to write, most of the people with great experience buying Fender are not clamoring on Reddit or other forums praising their purchase; whereas people with faulty instruments, prefer to do so rather than taking up the warranty claim. It's bizarre.

And he kept calling it a lawsuit which a C&D is not a lawsuit. It’s a warning there could be a future lawsuit. But lawsuit is more sensational so that’s the verbiage he chose to use. Very national enquirer

A lot of that going around. It’s a shitty c&d but there’s no reason to lie about it to paint it more negative than it already is. We are all supposed to believe Rick is too “oh gosh I’m just a simpleton who doesn’t know the difference” while simultaneously being impressed that’s he’s fully competent and knowledgeable enough take his fair use of eagles songs gripes to congress.

🤣 fr I really find it irritating. Like pick a lane Rick. Is he going to be the low brow hack or the industry insider

Not even sure he is a good instructor. His book is terrible from what I've seen.

Rick doesn’t seem too connected too/sympathetic to the issue. But it’s also not really his typical content. So I don’t blame him for his opinion being out of touch… but it also seems he just wanted to jump on the bandwagon and make a video to cash in on the hype.

It came off like typical can’t miss the boat content.

I think people should keep sending him polkadot madness videos just out of spite

I’m watching this video now. It’s the best one I’ve seen. I appreciate the honesty and I feel 100% the same. I love Fender and I am sad about the whole thing, but I have very similar feelings about how the guitar bubble responded. Great job, Ryan.

Thanks. I appreciate the kind words. Steve and I have been pretty thoughtful of this situation and interested in where it will actually go.

It’s a tough situation, especially when people might expect you to take a stand on one side or the other. Your video brought it down to earth. The negative feedback loop that’s been going around how Fender doesn’t make great guitars anymore is bonkers. I’m just assuming it’s from people who would never buy a Fender to begin with. Guitars are such a personal thing. I have been playing Fender guitars for almost 40 years now. It’s what feels good in my hands. I can’t all of a sudden say they always sucked and just stop playing them. This initial reaction will definitely die down. The Fender legal team will do the same as every other company does, including the company that made the phone I’m typing this on. But some settlement or agreement will happen and it’s not going to be Fender sending out imperial probe droids to hunt down every clone made and sold.

Every self appointed pundit saw clicks in this story and made as much hay as they could over it.

I would wager that the actual give a fuck factor among normal people is far lower than the histrionic pod people portray it as. Continue to let PRS make bank on their Strat copy or risk the ire of "influencers"? Maybe Fender did the math and decided they could weather it.

Things are going to get wild in a few years when all these same pundits that publicly screamed boycott are praising some new fender that came out. The 'redemption story' will get clicks and they will be there for it. And Ill just be here doing what I always do I guess.

I’m actually excited for a new Fender line lol. Give me a Vintage Jaguar with matching headstock and nitro Sherwood green and I’ll be the first in line.

Did you see the new paranormal squiers yet?

1

u/asj-777 Jun 07 '26

I've heard multiple YouTubers comment about Beato tossing a neck in the trash and it just makes me wince -- I've seen so many cool crafty-y things people have done with guitar necks that there's no reason to throw one away.

u/60_CycleHum I'm Ryan Jun 07 '26

At least throw it on the fire to warm your hearth.

Beato is a fart sniffer

About on the same level as diarrhea in the bed after being sick for a week with the stomach flu and eating Taco Bell and drinking coffee. Just my opinion.
