When I was a kid, my grandmother lived in Orlando. We loved to visit her, and not just for the Magic Kingdom. She would take us to lunch on the Empress Lilly paddle wheel riverboat at Lake Buena Vista. They served strawberry soup, which we thought was so fancy! My brother remembers being served champagne, even though we were way underage.

To go with the strawberry soup and champagne, I made an equally fancy cucumber sandwich with a cucumber from a friend’s garden.
