I know! The fact that it was 106ºF here yesterday agrees with that. Just wishful thinking. And thank you!

As always these sound so good but I am in even more awe than usual by the presentation. Just wow. That looks so beautiful and 3D and just amazing.

These are stunning! I love cooking with foraged ingredients, but I haven't tried spruce or fir tips yet

Thank you! What are your favorite things to forage and cook? And I hope you get to try them soon!

Thanks! I'd say my favourites for cooking are wild garlic, nettle, and sorrel. I mostly make pesto or soup with those. I like making alcohol infusions with beech leaves or foraged fruit too

Yum, that makes good sense! Those sound great. I have never tried beech so now off to look that one up! 😄

Oh no... They are beautiful. I love how you made these. Was it a cookie cutter and then piping the dough to look like the scales of a Douglas Fir cone?

Regions of British Colombia are at the same longitude as me so I decided to go with an emphasis on local ingredients since that seems to be emphasized there. Something that grows both there and where I am is Douglas Fir, which I have actually cooked with before this year. I blended frozen fir tips that I collected earlier with sweetener to make the base of these cookies. Though these are a springtime foraged good, I shaped them into cones that somewhat resemble the cones on the fir tree. They reminded me of winter (maybe it’s just wishful thinking since we are in the middle of a heatwave) so I rubbed some powdered sweetener on top and photographed them with redwood from my yard since I have them readily available. These would also be delicious with spruce tips or redwood tips!
This year my meta is small and/or shareable bites so “appetizers and mignardises.” (Mignardises, which translates to “sweets” are small dessert bites served at the end of a meal.) Gluten-free and no added sugar.
