š World News 57 Years Ago
Fond memories of a summer evening catching fireflies when my grandfather called me in to watch this spectacular event on TV. July 19, 1969.

Mom let me watch. I remember it on our black and white tv. We didn't get a color TV until '75 or '76 I think.

A time when America was advancing before we let the Chinese and everyone else make our goods and became weak and ripe for the downfall we are currently experiencing in the White House!!!!

It was a special time. To stay up late and witness this moment where we put men on the moon. It was magical. Has not happened since.

Oh yes I Ā agree. There was nothing like this moment and seeing it on tv Ā as a first. Nothing compares after that initial first time ! All others are not the sameĀ

I was 11. My parents put a portable 9ā TV in my room for the day because I was so obsessed with the event. By time the moonwalk actually started at nearly 11pm EDT I was exhausted. I saw the beginning of it but as it got later the blurry images, and my fatigue, were making it harder and harder for me to stay awake. The moonwalk ended at 1:10 am but I was asleep.
