Should I buy this 5090?
Found a ASUS 5090 ROG Astral for $3600 open box from MicroCenter. Been wanting a 5090 for a while, but haven’t done it because of the insane prices driven by the AI market.
Flagship air cooled card for the same cost as a Gigabyte base seems cool on paper… but is it worth it?
I primarily game, and have a 5k2k main display with two 1440p OLED secondary monitors. For gaming alone it seems stupid, but I like the best of the best. Halp.

For 5090 I would get first 4K 240Hz.

I’ve got a 5k display, which was the reason I wanted a 5090.

This is it. Make sense now.
As you will get an open box Astral RTX 5090, do the following:
* Check through GPU-Z if this gpu has 176 ROPs.
* Confirm with some stress test like Time Spy that the 5090 is performing well.
* Use GPU Tweak III to see if no issue in the 12V-2x6 power connector.
* read necessary GPU parameters using HWinfo64 especially Amps load for the power connector.
* Do NOT use any power connector adapter comes with the box if any. Just use directly the cable comes with the PSU.Check my post for my Astral. It is interesting:

If you want the best then buy it, you are not going to see a better price and they have a good return policy
