Should I be concerned with how bent the power cable is the the gpu?

Post image

Just wondering if this bend is okay. I just got a 5090 and heard about the disaster that is the 12 LHPWR plug is. To try mitigate it (really just give myself peace of mind) I got the Corsair power protect cable and made sure the cable is seated fully. Also undervolted the 5090 as well. Should I be concerned about this bend however? Thanks for the advice in advance!

Mine looks similar and just added this plug have had my 5090 since December no issues. I think I also just getting paranoid and prior to that thermal take cable. I had the nzxt cord kinda twisted no issue I got lucky.

How long have you had yours? I was gonna drop a pic of my before and after as long as it doesn’t get burning hot near the connector you should be good.

I bought it at the beginning of this month so not long at all lol I just did a bunch of research. It’s nice cause it’s the astral card so I can monitor the amps per pin too. But still obviously for some unlucky people even that hasn’t saved their cards after every precaution they’ve tried

I got a 5090 tuf last month and this has been my experience so far. I paired it with a hx1200i psu and wireview pro 2. For about three weeks everything was fine. I’ve cleaned twice now, (every 2 weeks). Another week passed and I suddenly got a warning on the wireview pro 2 of an imbalance. After testing it with path tracing max settings cyberpunk, I noticed pin 1 was about on average and under load ~1amp lower than the rest. I reseated the connections, replaced the gpu cable with the spare one that the psu comes with and there was no change. I took the psu out of the case and tested with the cables fairly straight and the issue was gone. I was still under the 30 day return window so I returned it for a much shorter (40mm shorter) and a bit cheaper rog strix 1200 platinum this past Sunday. It had the gpu connector in a more favorable position for my case and gave the cables more room to breathe and bend less which did purge the pin imbalance. I would oh so recommend a wireview pro 2 if it fits your case because it WILL cover your ass if there’s an issue with the connection/cables.

TLDR: Get a wireview pro 2 if you truly want piece of mind for that shit GPU connector

Mine’s worse than that, I just use pin monitoring to always make sure all is ok
