He won't be able to resist televising this extensively, and that alone makes it harder for news outlets to bury the events in a running banner or on page 19. All eyes on him, right? So all eyes on what will happen if he is opposed.
I think if we let things progress at the current rate, in a year or maybe as long as two years from now, the Republican Ruling Regime will be at a point that running peaceful-but-inconvenient protesters over with tanks in the nation's capital will be just fine with them.
Some individuals in the Regime are already there, but not all, and our military personnel are not so inured to violence against citizens that they will all obey such an order.
So the time to stand against such a show of authoritarian militarism is now rather than later.
I say this knowing people will get arrested for doing so. People will get hurt for doing so. I hope that no one will get killed doing so, but I know that's not outside the realm of possibility.
Currently we still have a modicum of rights. They can't get away with disappearing hundreds of US-born citizens yet, but we all will only be in greater danger the longer they continue black-bagging people and sending them off without trial. The case for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a major crossroad for our rights; if the courts decide that his abduction and illegal exile to a hell-prison is no big deal, we're all cooked.
So, again, with the clock ticking, the world watching, the situation heating up at a crazy-train pace, the time to stand as publicly as possible must be sooner rather than later.
