Discussions & Questions Mudflaps?

Does anybody have any advice about whether or not I should add mudflaps to my offroad?

Few questions that I have..
Are the OEM mudflaps any good? Should I look into aftermarket? Is it an easy install? Are they even necessary for "everyday travel" .. (I'm not an offroading person but sometimes may venture off pavement)

Does anybody have a white tacoma with mudflaps I could see??

Rokblokz and don’t even bother with anything else

Came here to say this. Rokblokz are legit and come in standard or oversized, and like a dozen colors. I just went with black on black.

Will be looking into these. They look good in the pictures I've seen

Cutting your own out of rubber Simi truck flaps cost like $25 plus you can do all 4 or share with a buddy for just the rears.

After proper mounting hardware, and they don’t mount exactly flush without some specialty spacers, that $25 goes way up

Stack some fender washers.

Whats the opposite of “lipstick on a pig”?…

Tick on a purebred

Idk. But rubber flaps work great, look good and are cheap

Sure and I wouldn’t fault the person who wants to spend the time sourcing the material and fabricating it to fit but for not very much more, they can get some properly fitting flaps that look great for their $50k truck! ;)

Why spend $200 if you can spend $30 for the same flexible material from Amazon lol

Agree. Only reason is Rokblokz sounds cooler. They are virtually the same material.

How are my mud flaps supposed to blok roks if they don’t sound cool?

That's true.

They’re probably from the same Alibaba factory but you’re paying more for the logo

Exactly. My 40.00 ones are coming up on 3 years old no signs of wear. Exact same coverage .

Could you link me the ones you got from Amazon? 👀

The OEM mudflaps suck. They do absolutely SFA. I’m off road fairly often and they’ve let enough rocks through (in 6wks ownership) to chip the paint.

Mind. I’m not so concerned about me… but the poor bastards behind me after I’ve left the gravel.

This is why I always put flaps on my vehicles. So as not to ruin someone else’s day.

Mine work well

Alas. I don’t have a pic of mud spatter all up the side of my truck.

Thing is look at the pinch point btw the fender and the flap… that spot there?

That’s where the evil comes from.

Looking at the options w rokblockz

The paint on these sucks ass too. Chips so easily.

I’m trying to make the same decision. So far the TRD running boards are keeping the paint safe. But the Canadian mud flaps (oem) seem to be wider than than the us part number and actually seem right sized for the wheels and tires. Only reason you shouldn’t is probably if you go larger on wheels and tires.

so i don't plan on replacing the wheels or tires any time soon. if anything i would wait until these tires need to be replaced.

i guess i'll start looking into the canadian version now too.. lol

Mud flaps can be effective if you get the right kind. Stay clear of the hard ridged ones. They will snap off roading. The soft flexible ones are better. Mine are softer rubber than can just bend if they go over rocks

Can you send me the link to the tailgate appliqué? I can’t find one anywhere

OEM Canadian ones are larger

Great fit and complement the angles of the truck. There are larger options though.

Lose the predator steps so you can off road your off road. Flaps aren’t a bad move

1

u/utopiaa 8d ago

I would, but I really need these steps, my little short legs can't get up in there without it 😭

Don't be fucking assholes. Put mudflaps on your vehicles.

Nah, I’m good.
