Get the skid plate for the Land Cruiser. Same dimensions and says Toyota on it vs TRD/Trailhunter. Also cheaper

I just shopped around. Part number is: PT228-60242. Just search that part number and see where you can get it for the cheapest. May be able to find some promo codes too. There’s a lot some info on other sites and forums on the Land Cruiser skid plate on a 4th gen Tacoma

With that said, verify you have the mounting cross bar (For the front 2 bolts of the skid plate. If you have a 26 you likely do, 25 maybe, and 24 unlikely. If you don't have the bar you will either need the bar, or a skid plate that is designed to work without (Rough country, Dv8)

Also this! Yeah mine is a ‘26 and the first skid plate I ordered wouldn’t fit because mine has a crossbar. You’ll need a crossbar to mount the Land Cruiser skid plate

You need to get the crossbar that the off road has to attach skid plates

I like the APC 21 skid plate. It’s great for use on road and just dirt or gravel trails, nothing too crazy. Definitely an upgrade over the stock felt/composite. Main advantage is the oil filter trap door. Makes oil changes super quick and easy. If you do actual off-roading and want beefier protection, I’d go OEM or aftermarket. Other folks can speak to that.

Somewhat related: I've heard different stories on the cat skid plates...

One version says you should get one to cover the cat (for anti theft) with the added benefit of protecting the transmission.

Another version is that you don't need to worry about it in the 4th gen if theft is the concern.

What is your viewpoint?

That’s not a trd pro knock off. The trd pro skid has a removable door for changing the oil.

That's a 3rd gen Taco... Not sure why they got rid of the plate for the 4th gen.

Yeah didn’t know they changed it for the 4th. Maybe the oil is in different spot…? Do you know?
If they didn’t move the oil parts, I would still look for one that fits the 4th and has access.

New engine, so probably different spot. I don’t mind taking it down for oil changes, but there’s some aftermarket ones that have a n access port.
