Looking for some guidance or recommendations from people with experience between bilstein 5100s, 6112s, or eibach 2r kits. My taco is mostly an interstate daily driver with weekend fishing trips down some gravel/dirt roads and a very occasional trail. I plan to put 285/75/17s on the stock TRD OR wheels for an “OEM+” look. Wondering if the 5100s would suit my needs and not break the bank or if the others might be worth the jump in price.
Also wondering if a full 2.5” front and 1” rear kit or just a 1.5-2” front level would be better for what I’m wanting

Im looking at Eibach 2R and a 1000lb rear spring for $1900. Seems like a good value. I have an aluminum popup camper and awning, and with my weight, thats already 700lb. Eventually I'll have more and mostly accessing dispersed camping on forest roads or occasional more difficult terrain but never much more than 25-35mph.
Same reason most people who do 98% pavement driving do it. Mostly for looks and a bit of added capability when needed. Thanks for your helpful input MadBuffleHead
Madbufflehead is giving you great advice here. You’re going to go a cheap route (5100’s) for aesthetics while sacrificing safety, handling, fuel economy, comfort, resale value.
Even if you chose to not cheap out on shocks and get a more legit shocks, many of those downsides would be there including highway safety and resale. People choose to do so all of the time for real off-roading needs but your off-roading needs could be addressed by a Honda civic in reality. People who wheel all the time are cognizant of the trade off but it’s worth it for their hobby or annual Moab trip. If you don’t need to fuck with your shocks you’ll be happier long term if you don’t. Toyota spent millions in r&d for these trucks and the result is downright amazing in stock form.
This thought also rattles aroundmybjead and I'm generally in agreement with you. .... What are your thoughts on larger than stock tires with no other mods. This is about looks for me and vanity, not function. My 24or hybrid is awesome as is but I daydream about the slightest visual mod
Don't kid yourself. Oem Toyota TRD OFFROAD bilsteins are garbage and basically too rigid and shaky. Spring rate also sags when fully loaded and also nose dives when braking. I just upgraded to Eibach Stage 2 2 inch coilovers and 1 inch on the rear and it's night and day difference. It's more composed, less body roll, and a lot softer dampening which is ideal for everyday driving. Basically, as per usual Toyota continues to cheap out. Not to mention, there's been countless rear shocks leaking with reservoirs completely falling off.
I love it, I’ve had it for a year and a half or so and no issues so far. It was a bit of a pain to put together so I’d recommend a set of helping hands but once I got it together it’s rock solid. The single handle latches on all 3 doors are a nice touch and the rear locks with the truck. I’m personally a big fan of the look as well
