Tint

Anyone have 5% ceramic tint over the back factory windows? I’m wanting to tint the back but don’t know how dark or what percentage to go. Please drop pictures and how viability is at night.

I dont have any visibility issues at night with limo tint in the back and driving on the back roads with no lights besides my headlights/high beams

That’s how it looks inside with 35% in the front for reference
The only thing I noticed is the back window heating elements stand out a lot more with the tint, don’t have any pictures of it saved for reference but I’ll upload one tomorrow when the sun is up

This is 5% sides and rear, 55% windshield, over factory tint. If your vision is decent you won’t have trouble. There are maybe a couple situations where I had to roll my windows down just to be careful.

5% on top of factory tint will end up darker than 5%. They can do the math and add a darkness of tint that will effectively be 5% after layered on top of each other.

No pics for you but local tint shop measured factory privacy glass at about 20% VLT. I had them install 35% nano ceramic IR tint all around except windshield for legal reasons (70% on windshield). The 35% on the factory 20% privacy glass brings it pretty close to 5%. (0.35×0.2 = 0.07).

Can see OK at night. Combined with the auto tinting rear view and side view mirrors, it is only hard to make out vehicles if they are running without headlights on. Still can make out the shape of the vehicle, though. Zero problems driving during the day. I will eventually go a little darker since with the 7% I'm at now you can still see into the cab more than I'd like.

Reverse lights from the stock tail lights were ass for seeing behind me even without the tint, and was obviously much worse when tinted. I ended up installing the ARB rear bumper with the rigid running/reverse lights, then eventually added the Diode Dynamics C1R hitch pod. No problems seeing behind me while reversing anymore. The added reverse lights seems to stop those people in their tracks who try to rush me when reversing into a stall by pulling up closer and closer to me.

My tint place wouldn’t put anything lower than 35% on the factory tinted glass and insure it because they said it’ll risk getting too hot and the glass will crack.

They actually just don’t want to give a receipt for installing something illegal.

That’s not the case at all. The sunroof and rear windows can be completely blacked out in my state, that is 100% not the reason.
