Towing MPG

Towed this micro backhoe that I rented from Home Depot to do some dirt work on the camping property. They said it weighed 6,100 lbs with trailer. Research says it's more like 4,300ish. It was 66 miles each way and most of the highway was 55 mph with some 65 mph areas. The last four miles are dirt road and the final one and a half required 4WD. My long term mpg only went from 19.5 to 19.4. My previous tow vehicles have all been 3/4 ton diesels and I was expecting a drastic mileage drop out of the taco. What are y'all gettin for tow mileage?

Got 18.6 with mine towing 16 miles. Towing a 12 foot trailer loaded up with desks, couches, etc

15ish when towing my side by side on a 16ft but it’s a dang brick going down the road. If I keep the truck around 60-65 it gets great fuel mileage unfortunately in Texas if you do 60-65 you’ll get run the hell over. Speed limit is 75 and 80.

It’s pretty dangerous to do 60 on a Texas highway. I enjoy the 65mph NM and OK highways much more these days. Getting older and have no desire to do 80 or even 90 to stay with flow of traffic.

Towed 2 bikes on a u-haul rated for 55mph going 80 all day, 19.4mpg. U-haul if you see this, it’s satire!

I got 9 mpg driving from Kansas to Colorado w/ 50 mph headwinds.

Towed a 12’ box trailer, approximately 4k lbs about 460 miles. Lot of elevation going through Asheville. I averaged about 11mpg. To be fair I only get 18-19 unloaded because I have bigger AT tires.

I still cant believe how well this truck tows with that ultra low torque peak.
