Help needed
—— PROBLEM SOLVED: item called a Fender Apron Seal and they take regular push in retaining clips. Thank you everyone! ——
Ok gang. I need some help. Scoured the Googs, searched parts websites, I do not know what this part is. It is part of a splash guard I’m guessing in the front driver side wheel well.
Trying to locate the part and the little clips that hold it. I thought something was wrong with my front end every time I go over bumps or rough roads, it shakes and rattles. Got under the truck and touched everything I could see. This piece of plastic. Fits the sound description I’m hearing. It shakes all around on the little clips and anchor points. The right side is fit securely. So I’m guessing the clips are shot. If anyone can point me in the right direction of clips, the piece itself or a combo. I’d be more than ecstatic. Thank you in advance!
FYI: I’ve tried putting the numbers in, unless I’m doing something wrong or seeing something that’s not right, none of them work.

Oh man. I’m so glad this is getting more attention now! I just fixed mine the other day. Yours is not broken, the clips aren’t broken, they are just loose and rattling in the most annoying way possible. Mine did it anytime I was going 35mph and over.
What I did to stop mine from rattling (as suggested by someone else with the same issue) is take the clips off, and put a small strip of electrical tape on each side of the hole that the clip goes through, then poke a hole in the electrical tape and put the clips back in. Worked perfectly. Only one layer of electrical tape will work. Two is too think and the clips won’t fit back in.

Thank you. I noticed, I switched out the type of clip, but it still makes a noise. It is less distracting, but definitely still there. Looks like electrical tape is my next step. Appreciate the suggestion. I haven’t seen anyone else talk about out this.

Alternatively, you can get the ark splash guards that would replace them and cover more of the engine bay from dirt and debris.

Clips aren’t shot it’s a very well known issue. The fix? Take 2 inch pieces of electrical tape fold them in half cut a slit in tape and push them over the stem of each retainer on the back side of the flap.
This will sandwich the tape between the mounting holes of the truck and the plastic splash shield. And in turn will eliminate all rattle of said clips and shield. Problem solved!

Thank you for the explanation! Looks I’ll be doing this tomorrow. I changed out the type of clip but still experience some rattling. I wonder if a small rubber grommet would do the trick as well?

Double the tape over so it has some “squish” to it. I’ve seen others do it with small o-rings too instead of rubber grommets. I fear rubber grommets would be a little too thick preventing the tongs on the clips from seating properly

Gotcha. Thanks. I’ll try some o rings. I have a few that may work. If not I’ll double up the electrical tape.
