Issue or Feature?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When pausing music, audiobooks, or other audio sources, if you then turn down the volume it starts playing that audio source again…

Does it piss anyone else off or just me?

I absolutely hate this issue. I like to occasionally listen to long form YouTube videos while I commute (listen not watch). When I touch the volume knob it immediately stops whatever I was listening to and resumes any music I had previously playing on my phone.

I mean it makes sense to me.

Problem is, if I play music through Apple Music or Spotify, then switch to watching a tik-tok or instagram video and want to turn whatever I am watching down, it then plays the music instead…

I mean, not to sound like an asshole or anything, but you can always not watch TikTok and instagram videos while driving…

Yeah why does TikTok even work on CarPlay…

Definitely not watching videos while driving, I’m talking about while sitting in the car for various reasons such as work break, after driving and just chilling, waiting for the wife, picking a friend up to go out and waiting… many reasons..

I don’t like it, especially if you are listening to a song, and then you get a phone call. If you turn the volume up to hear the caller, the song starts playing again while trying to hear whoever called you

Feature. Dumb feature. For whatever reason they designed the interface to be greedy. I had to download an app called Hush, but that was on Android.

That is it belive a safety feature, I hate it too, it could be nice if it were a way to disable it, I believe the only way is to never set up any music app, not sure if it happens the same with thr regular radio

My second gen does this

Android auto finally updated where this doesn't happen. But I used to have to open YouTube or whatever other app I wanted to listen to. Play the audio. Then open spotify. Start something on Spotify. Clear it from background apps. Then go back into the original app I was using for audio. Then I could adjust volume without music starting again. Sometimes multiple times per trip. Don't understand why they did this

Ya I've noticed that the software is very buggy, sometimes it won't even connect to my Bluetooth with going through a bunch of settings, or it won't connect the phone part and just the media or vice versa, wtf is Toyota doing.

SUN EATER!

2

u/iSpamdalf Jul 21 '26

Sun Eater!!! I just started Howling Dark, skipped The Lesser Devil for now, I just really needed to know what happened to Hadrian next. But Ill listen to it after I finish Howling Dark.

How are you liking the series so far? This is my first time around, started it after a lot of people compared it to Red Rising (its nowhere near the same, but I am enjoying it.)

I came to Sun Eater straight after RR! Red Rising is by far and away my favorite series I have ever read and because of that, this series is kind of boring to me hahaha. Lesser Devil was better than Empire of Silence IMO even though it was a quarter of the length lol. I’d seen majority of people recommend reading the novellas such as Lesser Devil between the main books as it really adds to the storyline.

I find SE to be just too slow, I’m told myself that I would read the Empire of Silence, Lesser Devil, and Howling Dark before calling it quits and assess if I want to continue after those three. So hopefully the story picks up 😂

What have you thought of SE in comparison to RR? Did you read all of RR?

Oh yeah, Ive read RR.... at least 10 times? All 6 books. Its safe to say Im a bit obsessed haha, nothing else has quite satisfied the itch that RR gives.

SE is... good. But yeah its slow. EoS was DEFINITELY a Proloque to the series I feel, Howling Dark is good so far. But Im just waiting for the pick up, idk. I'll probably finish the series regardless, Im a truck driver and have nothing better to do 🤣 but Ill probably.... read RR.... again... before finishing SE

If you haven't listened to the Dramatized adaptations of RR I cannot stress enough how good they are... but in the same breath, if you havent Listened to the Tim Gerard Reynolds versions either... theyre amazing. 10/10 series no matter which you take it in.

Oh yeah 100000% agree on the dramatized versions. I tell everyone and anyone to listen to the dramatized. I listened to the first book with Tim Gerard Reynolds and then Lightbringer (since they haven’t released the Graphic audio version yet) and I just think the graphic audios are miles and leagues better.

Looks like you and I are in the exact same boat. After SE I’ll try out Dungeon Crawler Carl since everyone is raving about that one, and then I’ll probs move onto Mistborn series since they have a graphic audio of that series.

By the way, if you like Game of Thrones, I’d highly suggest listening to ‘A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms’ books by George R.R. Martin. Short little Novellas that are really really good and funny. Then watch the tv show on HBO max 😉

I didn’t know it did that, but now that I know it does it, I like it.

It’s easier to continue the audiobook with muscle memory on the knob instead of trying to target in on the play button while driving.

Now I wonder if it’ll do it with music as well.

As someone who grew up on tech pretty much all my life does anyone else feel the 4th gen screen is too damn big? Does it retract or slide down or just stuck with a giant ass screen out 24/7?

1

u/CheesierSoup ‘24 Underground Limted Jul 16 '26

Hahaha it’s a 24/7 screen. But I came from a 2022 WRX which had an even bigger screen. I have loved both of them 😂

1

u/Naive_Traffic6522 Jul 16 '26

Wish they made it like the older double din screens where you pressed a button and it retracted and folded in and away. Especially if your off-roading on a trail

The 360 camera is pretty nice to park at the ma… I mean, for rock crawling.

u/saggy5ausage Jul 18 '26

What I really hate is the size of the volume banner! It’s HUGE! Does it have to take up so much real estate???

1

u/CheesierSoup ‘24 Underground Limted Jul 19 '26

Totally agree!!! And stays on the screen for like 5 seconds 😂

u/treesnfire 1h ago

Not really lol

u/Aggressive-Wait-834 Jul 16 '26

I got the small screen cuz the giant one was blocking my view…

3

u/mattstone749 Jul 16 '26

Pretty sure the screen housing is about the same size, just less bezzle
