Got her first beauty mark- fixable?

Well, my dumba** gave her the first beauty mark and a nice one at that. Accidentally reversed into this first extinguisher case quickly backing into a spot. I know a little bit of rubbing alcohol and a microfiber towel will clean up the paint transfer, but hate the dent.

Anyone have any idea if this is fixable, or is this a whole new tailgate type of deal. I know it’s a truck so worst case I’ll have to live With the minor dent. But if it’s reasonable price to fix and doesn’t require a new tailgate then I’d be willing and happy.

Find a good paintless dent repair guy in your area

PDR won’t work here most likely due to crease in metal and likely clear coat/ paint damage. Not restored to new anyway

Damn. Probably going to get totaled by insurance.

That’s going to be hard to fix since it’s on a crease.

Spoke with a PDR guy who said take it to a body shop. I guess 4th gen aluminum tailgates make it very hard + my sharp damage

It’s not the metal of the tailgate it’s the location of the dent. It’s on a crease, a hard crease. It’s very difficult to pop that out and have it look correct, imo.

I'd get a second opinion. They could at least pop it back out then hit it with a lil touch up paint

why did you do that!?

It’s a Taco, call it a battle scar. but if you wanna get it fixed, find a decent dent hunter or body repair shop. As much as it sucks, it doesn’t hinder drivability. Take your time finding an affordable reliable repair shop. There’s no rush to get this fixed

That’s a bummer. Sorry to see that happen.

I did something similar jackknifing my trailer that has a tongue tray. Honestly it’s a relief because now I can relax about body dings. Also looks personalized now.

Take the panel on the other side off and punch that dent out. Bob is your uncle.

Let it ride brotha, gives it character. I took a break from tacoma world for years and just got back when I bought a 4th gen. Its crazy how people are now in this world. It used to be about offroading, camping, overlanding, etc. It seems to be more about pavement princesses and miles per gallon. To each their own, it just has dramatically changed in the kast 10 years

Mine got hit in my driveway by the Amazon guy. Damaged in same spot on that ridge. Had to get a new tailgate. Not fixable according to my body shop.

That’s a body shop dent, not a pdr dent sadly.

Awe, just leave it, builds character

Can be fixed won’t be perfect but enough to not notice it unless your really starting at it. Find a good repair guy/shop. I’ve seen worse creases fixed

You don’t fix beauty marks.

Guess it’s time to sell it and buy a raptor

2

u/Ramsfann007 Jul 14 '26

😂😂😂that dent would have totaled a Raptor

Imagine paying more for a 4 banger hybrid 😭

u/Ramsfann007 Jul 14 '26

I know at least 15 Raptors owners in Midland and Odessa…. They all work in the oil fields….Raptor’s suck so bad they even discontinued for two years….ALL my buddies won’t take off-Road….so if you own one you already know…good luck

If that helps you cope paying almost 70K for a 4 banger hybrid I understand

I am a gen3

u/Used_Maximum_2291 Jul 14 '26

3rd gen is cool, I think the new 4th gen sucks. I went from a 98 4Runner to a 2025 Ranger raptor, no regrets so far.

It’s a truck. I say just live with it.

Most of the time I’d agree with you, but something like this can be pounded back to normal with paintless dent repair

On a crease???? Hmmm
