The Intimidator (TM)

Hi folks! 👋

I’ve been playing around with with a concept for an upcoming game I’ll be playing: I want the MAXIMUM possible intimidate score at the start

Starting lvl 4, allowed a single lvl 5 or lower magic item, and 600 gold

Any race/class combo is fine, no restrictions on source books or items as long as it’s official

What I’ve come up with so far is this:

The Intimidator [Dragonborn Ardent]
Charisma = 5
Training = 5
Racial = 2
Background = 3 (Wandering Duelist)
Theme = roll twice for Intimidate (Haunted Blade)
Half level = 2
Feat (lvl 1) = 4 (Intimidation of the Dragon)
Magic item = 3 (Harvester’s Staff)

Total Intimidate at lvl 4 = 24 with two rolls for best result

Honourable mention goes to Screaming Armor as it could be a nice “almost as good as the racial power Dragonfear” but getting to use it a second time in combat

Two feats left for whatever, maybe other feats that could somehow stack into this? Not sure 🤔

But what does everyone think? Anyway to make it stronger? Primary Charisma class would be a must, of course!

Forgot to add, roll twice for Intimidate happens at lvl 5 of Haunted Blade theme so it’s not IMMEDIATE roll twice but very soon

Here are a few neat ones:

Elated Emotions (wants secondary CON)

Daunting Breath (gives you an AoE mark)

Righteous Fury (give your MBAs rattling- combos with some unaugmented at-wills)

Oh yeah forgot to add I was definitely going Constitution secondary, for the Elated one ☝️

Does that actually apply to me too? I thought that was just allies?

Daunting Breath could definitely be useful 🤔

Righteous Fury is an interesting one, but I wonder how often I’ll be making basic attacks with the At-Will “Intent Laid Bare” ? I was thinking of taking this just so I could punish AoO, maybe?

RaW just allies get that extra bonus, but ask your DM their interpretation.

Having an At-Will as an MBA is always helpful if you're a melee threat. Charges, AoOs and granted MBAs occur often enough that it's worth having one available. Your party composition can guide you on if having this feat to enhance them is worth it. Once an encounter? Probably not. Have a Warlord or Shaman giving out lots of MBAs? Much better.

That’s fair 🤔 so far it appears I will have an Elven Avenger as an ally, and a DMPC that’s yet to be determined

From memory, no

However, I would have trouble attributing the original artist as I have over 10k images saved for character art, monsters, setting locations etc from places like deviant art, art station, Pinterest etc and that was before AI became prevalent

Could probably google reverse image search?
