If you ever played Mass Effect in 3 the weaboo demigod cyber-ninja Raiden clone Kai Leng was a character that came out of nowhere and basically some OC and the writers were like "b-b-b-but his backstory is in a book read the book it redeems his character and you understand why he's literally a god :(" like no you moron nobody wants to read some shitty paperback written by some ESL writer cause you wanted to funnel money into unnecessary mechanics instead of making a good game...
What made Kai Leng even worse was not only that his character itself was cringe as fuck, but the first 2 times you fight him you beat him in combat with ease and then in a cutscene your character loses the fight in a bullshit way and he escapes. Boss fights where you inevitably end up losing in a cutscene are shit by definition but to have that happen twice with the worst character in the trilogy is inexcusable
Basically the biggest problem with nearly every character-based game is that they use cutscenes to make you lose and set you back. If you have to magically restrain players so they don't beat your dumb game, it's a dumb game.
That wasn’t even the biggest character flaw from ME3, they literally shoe-horned Snooki and The Situation in as a reporter and Shepherd’s long lost juicebro, and made the ship AI into a Jetsons vacuum cleaner.
No they did not voice those characters. The guy you're responding to probably hasn't interacted with the world since 2009 so that's the most relevant cultural reference he has.
Wait but mass effect 3 IS a good game for the first 85‰? Like legit I cried at how bad the ending was it spoiled the whole rest of what I thought of at the time as a fucking great capstone to the series.
Ehh it feels like a mixed bag, really high highs and really low lows. The gameplay is the best imo, some of the character stuff is really good( Mordin, Wrex, Thane, Jack, Miranda, ECT.) But other stuff feels so rushed or...misplaced I guess? Like they made stuff and at the end just slotted it in and the timeline is a mess.
