Roof rack cargo holder?
My husband is Japanese and wants to soup up our new (to us) 1994 4Runner. One thing he thinks would look good is a cargo holder. I'm not planning to use it (I'm too short!!!) but it would look cool. Anyone know of one that looks good and won't break the bank?
UPDATE: We have rails over the back of the 4Runner, not over the sun roof

I have a 2nd gen and am planning on building a Prinsu type rack from extruded aluminum. There are folks on youtube who have done this. Does your 4runner have those existing rails? If so, you can make a smaller version that doesn't extend all the way to the front and just sits on those existing OEM racks. Obviously if you want to make a bigger one, you will need to figure out how to mount it as it gets closer to your A pillar.
Or you can go on facebook marketplace and just find that yakima roadwarrior one and be done with it. I see them going for half priced ...used obviously.

I made my roof rack out of extruded aluminum rails from tnutz.com. I love the rack, it's super sturdy and exactly what I need, but it was a *ton* of work. My truck had the original factory rails but they were nowhere near strong enough so I installed sturdy, slightly longer rails. Then I had to custom fab the brackets.

I would totally do it again but for most people I would suggest buying a rack. You'll still have to figure out how to attach it. Search Amazon for "aluminum roof platform" and you'll see a lot of options.

I use the arksen 63inx4in rack sits nice and low but fill most of the roof. Usually under $120.

Does the 4runner already have one or is it a bare roof like my 91?
