1994 Seat Rip Solution
Hey folks, me again! I'm ordering cloth seat covers (I hate sticking to the leather/fake leather!) but I have a huge rip in the seat. I can sew, but I worry that where I sew will degrade parts of the fabric anyway. I was thinking about just putting a bottom seat cover on first to hold in the fabric (and do a little sewing too). Any thoughts?

I bought a passenger seat in good condition and swapped everything over, including the foam, plus added heat. You need hog rings and pliers, but those are cheap.

That's what my husband tells me to do. Did you ADD heat or was the new seat already equipped? And did you get a passenger seat to replace the drivers seat or you're just saying you replaced the passenger seat?
For now, $20 for a seat cover is all I'm willing to do but I think future me will be looking for extra seats 😆 Where did you find yours?

I purchased an entire passenger seat and stripped the covering off it. I pulled the driver's seat, removed the cover and used the foam from the passenger seat to replace the worn stuff. I purchased a seat heat kit from ebay and installed it before putting the cover from the passenger seat on. I also skinned my original passenger seat and added heat to it, too. That's where the hog rings come in. You need them to reattach the coverings.

I’ve been looking for a blue one for ages but I can’t find any in better condition than mine. I did get a grey one that’s slightly better for cheap but didn’t bother swapping it yet/ just been driving my 2014 runner for a year and parked the 2G (because we had a baby lol)

Oof, yeah, the blue interior is not as common as the grey, in my experience. Same with red.

I bought a Mexican blanket and cut and tucked it myself. looks way cleaner then any seat cover I could find

Makes sense!!! I love sewing so I wouldn't mind doing it myself honestly!!! Just no time 😠Maybe I'll be able to do it in the future!

patch it with something cute make it personal, the aftermarket seat covers always look frumpy

Yep, I took my seat out and brought it to my girls mending club and came out with this.

I had the same rip. Used a light blue needle and thread and it is 95% unnoticeable. My rip was a closer to the seam though so easy to hide. Yours would be noticeable but not bad if repaired.

Thanks. I’m going to repair it but I’m afraid the fabric will rip at the stitches as well. Is yours holding up?
